Gangs were a bad problem in my highschool. During my last two years no less than 2 people were shot in the head during school, and we had random violence as a part of daily life. Gangs suck period, but we haven't been able to get rid of them.

Well I am very angry, if I ever see a gang member in my neighborhood they won't be leaving in one piece. The police in my area QUOTE]WON'T[/QUOTE] touch any gang members, because they figure it will be easier to get the city police out here. I am hoping that the gangs don't start invading my school.
Now every girl in my neighboorhood is to go and buy gas so now they all have an escort.

Although I live in a city about the same size as yours, I haven't seen similar problems. ( Maybe cause it's Canada, I don't know)
But living in a city with problems like that would be very unnerving.

You have every right to be angry Mike. Lack of respect for other people and their property is probably the number one problem causer in America these days. No one cares anything about the consequiences their actions will have.

When people talk about the degredation of society, you are seeing it first hand. It's sad that young people do not have better things to do that go around hurting each other for fun and a "good laugh". It really gets my goat to think that some people really feel it necessary to rape and steal in order to have a good time.

When I was in high school, the only problem we had was drinking. Some peolpe drank too much and died because of it. Gangs were not that big of a problem. I am scared for my son when he gets into public schools.

Don't feel alone in your frustrations. It's not an isolated event unfortunately. But others definitely know what you are feeling right now and can sympathize. In more ways than one.

I see nothing wrong with hanging around a group of friends, but when all that group of friends knows is violence it leads to a bad thing.

Mike I understand well what you mean, I grew up in SW michigan not far from South Bend, IN (notre dame)
In Niles (my hometown ) we didn't really have gangs but in South Bend, IN there were a few, and Benton Harbor, MI was a bad area too (I wont say the nickname for Benton Harbor)

and yes, south bend indiana. highly religious drunk college students on one end, run down gangbangers on the other. it's a messed up kinda place.

Well the way everyone around sees it is "It's them or us" since the police don't help, we gotta protect ourselves. I am afraid that now we are going to have gangs running around my neighborhood to "protect" us from the other gang.

i think they need to really get some better cops up in your area. that they're not doing anything about it is wrong.
