Best book series...
I would just like to say that The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King is hands down, the best series of books ever written. There is no room for debate on this topic.
Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your time. | That statment alone will generate debate and expression of opinion.

I might indulge myself if it is that good, i prefer British authors, like Terry Pratchett, or David Gemmell, but, David Eddings is one of my favourites.

I agree wholeheartedly, chip. No debate here!
Just waiting for them to release the last couple of books Down Here.
Cheers

The Aubrey/Maturin novels by Patrick O'Brian (starting with Master and Commander).
For kids under twelve or so, the Freddy the Pig books by Walter R. Brooks.

It is indeed a great series of books... not too many books make me waiting and hoping the next book will be released soon
I have the latest book, but no time to read lately
I need to find it on audiocd so I can listen to it while driving

I'm surprised!
I never really understood all the SK hype. I read of couple of his books but they just never scared me like a Dean Koontz book could. I think my favorite "series" was the Vampire books (1-3 and the Mayfair Witches). But stop when you're ahead.
But speaking of Anne Rice, she wrote a book called A Cry to Hevean.... So bizarre.. I really liked it.

I'm a fan of Roland's too, but - "the best series of books ever written" ?? Might be taking it a bit far, there! Depends on the definition of series, I guess - if you mean continuing series then I'd agree. But overall, there have been many series's (sp?) that rival (if not beat) it. Sherlock Holmes, for example.
(unlike those, The Dark Tower series needs to be read from the beginning!)
I think it's quite safe to say that SK is the best "horror" writer of the 20th century, though - and possibly the 21st as well! He's covered more types of horror than any other author I've ever heard of.
Surreal, which of his books did you read? Some are kinda cheesy, granted, but others....
If you've read the likes of "Carry", "Salem's Lot", "Cujo", or "Christine", then I'd recommend "Thinner", "The Dark Half", "Delores Claiborne", or "Misery". Or of course, "Gerald's Game", which ought to cause any mature female a few chilling moments...
"From a Buick Eight" was fantastic as well

Yeah, Theo! I'm re-reading the Aubrey-Maturins now. Haven't read the goings-on at the Bean farm in many a year! Freddy for President.
I also like the Todd Moran mysteries, by Howard Pease.

I started The Stand, but it was boring. I was disappointed I like long books that have time to really develop everything. I can't remember the other one. It's been a while...
