Anthrax Scare on Boston's MBTA called off:
Turns out white powder was only cocaine. Quote:
Here's one for wrestling writer Ryan Baxter's files. It seems that Brutus Beefcake got into big trouble up in Boston in an almost unprecedented sportscrime melange involving a former wrestling star, the Boston subway, cocaine, anthrax and an emergency hazmat response. In a recent unscripted incident, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, whose real name is Ed Leslie, left a bag of coke on the counter of his booth in the Boston subway where he worked part-time as a fare-collector. According to the Boston Herald, a subway rider mistook the bag of coke for anthrax and notified authorities. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, citing terrorism fears, ordered that Downtown Crossing station be evacuated.
Beefcake, 46, who lives in Winchester, quickly admitted that it was cocaine in the bag to stave off the spreading fear of terrorism. He also checked himself into drug rehab after reportedly being suspended without pay from his $25,000 per-year part time Boston subway gig.
