Anyone ever been to one? Apparently it's flavored tobacco that is smoked through some sort of special pipe?

I don't smoke, but a couple of my friends were talking about going to one somewhere in Sacramento.

I figure if they hit up a couple bars after the hookah bar, I may get a decent amount via designated driving.

I'm still a bit confused about the whole hookah thing.

We call it pot down here.

I presume it's still nicotine based, not herbal or other plant based? (like opium?!?)

Never heard of it here, but as I don't smoke either it's possible we have it down here in some form or another.

Whether it's legal or not here would be another thing altogether!

Nahh it's supposed to be legal - Then again, I live in California, the chances of it being a pot shop are somewhat high. Hey, did I mention I have the "medical" Marijuana shop a few miles away? For any Sac area guys, it's somewhere in Roseville, I think on Sunrise?

Hookah bars are legit. The shops simply offer flavored tobacco smoked from massively large water bongs. There is nothing else to most of these bars. They are just a place for smokers to hang out and relax.

honey, orange, vanilla, cherry etc.
you choose your tobacco, then the fire-tender brings you a ready shisha with a piece of burning coal on top which heats up and ignites the tobacco when you suck on it.
shisha-tobacco is kind of "wet", tarry stuff which does't burn by itself.
