Rant! Stupid Police Depar. & Their automated systems.

Just ranting here, no need to reply,

But I am really ticked off at my local police department. I spent a half hour with Oregon relay trying to track down the right phone number to call to report this abandoned vechicle that sits in front of my house and I WANT IT OUT OF HERE!. Finally or so I thought go the right number and here we are wading through the automated system and we select option 4 because that says to inquire about towed vechicles or to report an abandoned car please press 4. So we did, Twice matter of fact, Im sorry the number you have dial has been disconnected. Click!

So we call back to the info desk at the sherriffs office. She gave me another number and I am like okay thank you mamm we will try that one now.

Another tweaking auotmated system that is 10 times worse!!!!!!

Why is it worse, because its nothing but a recording and then gives you instructions per menu items of what to say, you press 1 then leave your name and phone number and then press another number record your info and then press another number......you get the idea.

Well this makes it IMPOSSIBLE for a deaf person to make these kinds of calls because even if i type up beforehand all the info that oregon relay needs to leave the message if any info is missing there is no time for me to type it up and send it to her and her voice it out for me.

My habits with automated calls if i know they are automated is to let them know before hand that I am calling an automated machine and to select this number and then a live person will come on.

The police department for this line does NOT provide a Live Person Period!!!!!

So now what? Im stuck with having to ask a hearing friend to make a call for me that I should be able to make myself via either direct TTY or via Oregon Relay.

I even tried thier TTD lines several times what did they do???? They don't even tweaking answer the bloody tweaking line!!!!

I don't know what else to say i am royally ticked off now. I hate haveing to resort to having to ask someone else to make a phoen call for me. its qute demeaning and I consider myself an extremely independant person. When something likle that happens it really bruises my ego.

Thanks for listening to me rant.

Drop a match on it & call the fire department.

OK...J/K

What a drag.

Our local PD has a website where you can report things. That makes a lot of sense to me. It's usually pretty easy to get a live person on the line here though.

Time to make a call to city hall. Discuss the situation with your alderman (or whatever they call your local representative out there.)

I can sympathize with the frustration on automated systems. I do quite a bit of remodeling and repair work, Would you believe that some of our local supply houses have totally automated systems too!!?

One of the guys who occasionally works with me has some hearing problems and tried to call one of them, Guess what no tty either. When he told me we both went after them in person!!

Like ragtop suggested start with city hall and stay on them until they do something about it!!

By the way the supplier I mentioned ? Turned off the blasted machine and put a live operator on the line (7am-5:30pm). When I last talked to them they were going to install tty as well!!

Sometimes you just have to smack them upside the head!!!

NeoStar bows down to caddmannq thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!

With so much on my mind these days sometimes I even forget to look on the web mio? hehe yes, So I read your post and thought okay its worth a shot, so found thier web site and looked some things up and I was like shoot, same number same bs....then i looked closer scrunching my eyebrows and saw hey wait a minute that number is for car left on private property, not a public street. so looked a little more and FOUND a Different Phone number for cars abandoned on public streets.

I rushed to my TTY and call the number. Shoot! office is closed, i missed it by 5 minutes. So thought okay talking to relay,,,,can i leave you the info to leave, she said sure, this is just an answering machine, it is NOT an automated system!!!!! Yeehhaawwww!!!!!

So typed up my msg and she left the message on the ANSWERING MACHINE!!! for cars abandoned on PUBLIC streets. not private.

Thank you caddmannq, Love you man!!!!!! You have brighten my afternoon up!

that is what I am trying to do. Far as I know any car you want to get towed for abandonment you have to contact the police department. When you report an abandoned car the police marks it or something and sends a mail to the registered owner giving them so many days to remove the car and if its not removed it will be towed at the registered owners expense.

I might be wrong but that is the only way I know of.
