They did one tonight about CD-ROMs breaking in high speed drives.

They couldn't get the drives to spin fast enough (52X ~30K RPM) so they went w/ putting the ROMS onto a router. It was interesting to watch the ROMS break apart and pierce the ballistics dummy.

there was a video of a guy getting them to speed with a dremel, some shattered, some he broke for fun, it was pretty cool

I saw this episode awhile ago. These guys really go to the extremes to bust some of these myths. Anybody seen the one where they try to get the washing machine to spin their test dummy? Very interesting to say the least.

ya they got a small electric car engine to turn the washing machine

I haven't seen ER's episode though... will have to catch it next time.

I liked the hicks one filling drain pipe with gas to burn out a racoon.

Original myth was that they could not get the gas to start so drunk hick climbed in with his lighter to set the racoon on fire, the resulting explosion sends bubba flyin 200 feet through the air landing safely but a little worse for wear.

summary myth busted using gasoline buttttt

with crash dummy in hand and a healthy 10 lb charge of black powder they were able to make the 200 lb crash dummy fly about 200 feet but the landing probably would still not have helped him any

We watch that show all the time, It just cracks us up so bad! Those guys are fun! We saw that about the CD rom last night the one blonde haired dude was like a kid. jumping up and down clapping!

We saw the washer machine one too.

Ya saw the racoon one too.

As I said, those guys are haliarous!!!

Yeah the chicken gun!

They were blasting frozen chickens right thru Cessna canopies at about 400mph and pretty dramatically I might add---then found out they werent supposed to be resistant to bird strikes anyways! OOOPS! Those guys are kinds dorky sometimes, did you see the "Army crossing the bridge" myth they tried to bust?

I liked it when they ripped the rear axle from the back of the police car...

or used a .22 as a fuse and shot the dummy (in a truck)

or made a cannon from a tree... and blew it up while using 10 lbs of powder and corked the top
