someone probably thought, hey you have been here a while, and you are active on the forums, so be a mod!
or maybe they asked, and the admins thought they may as well add another mod
also some of them were mods on the old site

A 'Benjamin' is a 100 dollar bill. So named because a picture of Benjamin Franklin is pictured on it

You get asked if you would like to help out by becoming a moderator, I guess the higher ups select members who are active, help out a lot and have a good reputation, plus time on their hands.
