Carrier was a crapload older too. If I had the money, I'd buy that thing right now.

It's a very beautiful thing...

Oh man oh man. I don't even know where to start with this one.

Let's see. 10,200 lbs (1500 gals) of fuel is what it holds without the external drop tanks. If you stay out of afterburner and set it for max cruise you are looking at maybe 2 hrs flight time max. And depending on the prices of Jet A fuel, you looking at around $3000 - $4500 too fill-er-up. If you are out to show off and use afterburner 50% of the flight you are looking maybe 30-45 minutes of flight time. If you set it to afterburner and never take it out till you are ready to land.... You will be landing in about 12 minutes. And you better nail the landing, you may not have enough for a go around.

Then there is the issues of the onboard flight computers that run the flight control sufaces. Maintenance prices would kill ya. "0" hours engines? Yeah. "0" hours since overhaul. IF the engines are brand new, that's $3 mil for each engine. That is 2/3rds the price of the auction.

Even Bill Gates' bank account would see a reduction if he flew it regularly.

I could write at least 5 pages of jibberish about this. But I will save you from all the acronyms and working parts of the F/A-18. Any specific ????. Ask away.

Yo' Mechdood --

You interested in bidding on this one????

You seem to be trying to scare everyone else off bidding for it!

doh..

Dood, you could have it deducted from your paycheck..

If somebody was to buy it, how would they go about getting their cert to fly it?

I could see it now, get all trained up and go pull some whacko turns, hello, GLOC... nitey night... SMACK.... game ovah.

And the first time they did a "top gun" and broke the sound barrier, (over a populated area)I think the feds would be waiting on them when they landed..

PS> how did ya like the snow saturday? you DID build a snowman didn't ya?
