Fraud Question

If there is a website that continually gets people to "buy" items from them, but then never sends the item, is there anything i could do? They don't have an address so the BBB doesn't work, and they don't answer emails or phone. Aside from getting a lawyer is there any thing i can do?

Thanks

Go here and find out who owns the domain:
http://www.betterwhois.com/
Then contact them with a certified letter and start calling the police and BBB in their city. If you paid through the mail call the post office and get contact info for the postal inspectors office and file charges of mail fraud.
This is a hard thing to stop, you just have to keep calling everybody you can think of and keep complaining until somebody gets tired of hearing about it. Also if you can find others who were ripped off by the same place get them to complain also. Local police tend to ignore this type of crime until they get many complaints. I went through a similar mess after being ripped off on Ebay along with a couple hundred other people.

Nah, just a site i ended up at and thought it was ok. Via the info i was given, i have the owners name, phone number, mailing address and email. I have emailed him directly and told him he has 48hrs to send me the money or i am contacting authorities. And hopefully i can get ahold of some of the others that were screwed out of money.

Before seeking civil legal action to recover your funds, you can contact the authorities in the seller's area.

You can also contact the local district attorney and state attorney's office.

And finally, Elroy is dead on correct. Contact a postal inspector. The USPS does not take fraud lightly, and mail fraud carries stiff federal penalities.

I don't think so, they've got too much on their hands as it is. I'm saying this cause I was reading an article about that security web site, the name escapes me at this point, being DDoS'ed several times, and the guy contacted FBI and they said they've got bigger technological crimes on their hands......crap if I could only remember the site's name....it's that site with the tools to help you see if your pc can be hacked or not.
