I had Dell cancel two systems on me last year. If you're using a debit card and have a daily spending limit, that could be it. I found out days later that an email went to my yahoo bulk folder. Just a few things to check.

dell is only good for one thing-bend 'em over and beat the price and profit out of them.
Don't take the cancellations too hard-it's all about the price game.
Win some and lose some-just don't quit, keep on swinging for the fences.

UPDATE

Two days after posting my situation on a Dell Community Forum I got a comment by the Dell forum moderator asking for my order or customer number. A while later she asked for private mail with credit card information which I sent to her.

An hour later I found a new order number listed under my customer number and what appears to be the identical item that was canceled is in progress and due to ship next Monday.

Time will tell and I'll update again when I actually get the shipment and it is what I originally ordered and the price is the same promotional price. If not, you can be sure I'll send them back and contest the charge with my credit card company.

It looks as though the forum moderator has accomplished what nobody else whom I could reach at Dell was willing or able to do. I may have to write my letter that I was working on to the VP for Consumer Sales as a complaint about how Dell treats customers and COMPLIMENT the forum moderator and how she was able to do what nobody else would do.

Very good point which I should have though of at the time. I'm with you and I think this is the first time I've done that. I usually tell them to telephone me. I guess I should watch my credit card account very closely now.

Edit:
In retrospect the message was sent from within their Forum PM system. Perhaps it was via a "safe" connection but I don't know. At least nothing strange has appeared on my credit card.

Final Update

I received my order at the price that I had on my printout of my canceled order (+ 2 cents - rounding error?) and happen to be using it to send this after many hours of a clean installation and moving data and ini files to the new machine.

Without the help of "Samantha" on the customer service Dell Forum, I probably would never have gotten it.

I am sure glad that it was suggested to me that I post on the Dell Forums. I might never have thought of it.

I'd suggest anybody else with a problem with customer service post a message on the appropriate customer forum.
