the fastest all depends on what you are using it for...could you tell us that so we can help pick components

5 GHz Liquid Nitrogen Cooled... The fastest I've seen.

Depends on what your definition of "fast" is...are you talking raw Ghz or benchmarks? And, as Martoch mentioned, how much $$$ are you planning on laying out? You'll be paying top-dollar if you're after the fastest thing going (which will most assuredly only be the fastest for 6-12 months-if that- as new technology is introduced).

wait 2-3months, til the next video recard refresh occurs, by then intel and AMD should have stepped up the speed of their top procs again as well.

Keep in mind that you will only have the fastest for about 4 months.

Here is what i would suggest.

Athlon 64 3400+ or FX.
SATA hard drive. Capacity depending on needs.
ATI Radeon 9800XT with 256MB RAM
2GB of the fastest memory.

I am sorry i cannot suggest a motherboard for i am not up to speed on Athlon 64 chipsets.

Well, this is the fastest comp in the world right now. Click Link

I think you may be a wee bit short on cash for this.

So, what are you looking to use this computer for?

EDIT:
This seems more in your price range. Asus A8V Deluxe ~$140
Athlon64 3200Ghz ~$280
