Kids Printer Laser vs Bubble Jet

Ok folks I want the low down on printers. Mine is kaput. I can buy a laser printer here for 189. Canon LBP 1120.

I have to print lots of pictures. But lots of text too. Should I take the laser plunge and if I do HOW MUCH WILL THE INK COST!

Or will a good bubble jet with the different ink cartridges of the ink do just as well?

I want to hear from actuals humans rather than buy the propaganda on their websites. THanks to all!

Ig

Inkjet/Bubblejet vs, Laser:
When printing volumes of TEXT, B/W Laser is the only way to go as TOC is less than any other form. When printing color Pictures, there are so many different printers it comes down to quality and affordability. Printers using multiple color cartridges is somewhat cheaper in the long run as you may use more of one color than another vs printers with a single color cartridge. LASER: Color toner cartridges can be expensive (100-200USD per cartridge) and yield varies among manfacturer. Another form to consider is solid ink priinters. These are expensive to purchase but cheap to maintain and often come with free black refills. Quality is excellent but at present do not use archival type ink. If you opt for injet/bubblejet select a printer with muliple cartridges and the highest number of nozzels, and the smallest nozzel size. If opting for laser, try to stay with those that offer the drum as being a part of the toner cartridge as they are expensive to replace seperately. The biggest determining factor would be is this for personal or commercial use, and volume.
Not exactly an answer, just some food for thought IMO.

The only thing I can add is that The hp color laser we had at work was only 1 year old, and our 5 year old inkjet made better photos

The laser took as long as 5 mins to get ready to print, and it was very expensive.

Like excuzzzeme posted, the only clear choice is BW laser for large amounts of text. They cost more to buy but they are cheeper in the long run for volume

That's some great advice. So all you photo printer owners what's the skinny on which printer really turns you on?
