lol...

if you want it to be as easy as possible you can get an "all in one" motherboard....that means it has video, sound, ethernet, usb etc built in....less stuff to mess with for a build.

Case/power supply
floppy drive

All in one motherboard (Biostar M7VIZ is perfect for this)
CPU/heatsink (athlon 2500 barton perhaps)
Ram PC2700 DDR

hard drive (retail box comes with cables)

CDRW or DVD drive or both

Modem if you need one

Keyboard/mouse

monitor

OS (Win XP Home--90$)

I like www.newegg.com for motherboards and cpu's

I like staples or office max or office depot for hard drives and monitors and cdrw/dvd drives...cuz I dig rebates....get a nice 120g drive for maybe, I dunno, 65-80$ after rebate and a good 17" crt monitor for maybe $55-70)

OS from http://www.saveateagle.com/ or http://www.eastoutlet.com/ or http://www.eastoutlet.com/

cases from newegg or maybe www.electroseller.com or local comp shows

These people do a very good job with custom built PC's.

http://www.pugetsystems.com/

http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1537.html

They're alittle on the expensive side though.
