Kids Memory upgrade

We have recently built our first computer.
It has the" Asus P4P 800 Deluxe" Board.
The Mobo has 2 memory slots.

We have one stick of the "Kingston 512 MB DDR 400 /PC 3200 RTL"
in it.
Have run out of funds for the second stick.
Myquestion:
Can I go with Corsair for the 2. stick?
Does it have to be 3200 RTL ?
If the 2700 is cheaper, can I go with it?

Also, somewhere in this forum I read that this kind of memory tends to be hot and that there is a cooler available.
Now I can't find this information anymore.
If you have a suggestion I would sure appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Can I go with Corsair for the 2. stick?-----yes

Does it have to be 3200 RTL ?
If the 2700 is cheaper, can I go with it?------thats a little murkier question----my gut tells me you would be ok---obviously you would be limited to running BOTH sticks at 2700.

Also, somewhere in this forum I read that this kind of memory tends to be hot and that there is a cooler available.------they are called "heat spreaders", and you can probably get em anywhere..look at www.newegg.com

what cpu are you running if it has an 800mhz fsb then dont get pc 2700

i would go with the 3200 anyways because of the potential to overclock it and the price isnt too different

You should get another kingston 512MB PC3200 RAM module, but you may have luck with other 512MB PC3200 RAM modules.

You don't need heat spreaders, they are mainly for show. Yor memory will go from 35C to 34.5C.

Check this out, you want the last one on the list:

Yes, our cpu has the 800 mhz fsb.

Thank you so much for your help. I will stick with the original kind of memory.

Thank you for the link to the Kingston Memory! What a deal!!! I haven't been able to find it that reasonable.
Also, it's good to know that the heat spreader is not necessary.
Thanks again!!!!!!!
