OCSystem rips people off.
Hellow everyone. I just discovered this site a few months ago and like so many others, I wish I had discoverd it much earlier.
I'm sure OCSystem's negative history is common knowledge to many people here. but here's my story anyways.
Last year, I built a system for a customer. Among the componants I ordered was a 512mb stick of OCSystem PC3200 Cas2 memory. I built the system and left all BIOS settings on default as the customer wanted to configure everything themselves. Later, when the customer had me upgrade their video card, they asked me if I could check out a problem they were having with the memory. Try as I might, I could not get the memory to run anywhere near the labeled ratings. The best it would do was PC2100 (DDR 266) at Cas 2.5. I ran CPU-Z on it and discovered it was Nanya PC2100 memory. I had heard about Resellerratings.com a couple of months ago and I ran a check. I was shocked to discover the vast majority of OCSystem's customers had been defrauded in a similar fashion.
I called OCSystem and since I could not find the receipt, (this was one year later) I had them look up the order, which they did with no problem. The customer service rep told me a tech would call me back by the end of the day.
I received no phone call and 4 emails I sent after that went unanswered. Three weeks later I filed a complaint with the BBB and CA State Attorneys office. After a week or so, I got a response from the BBB with a ststement from OCSystem telling me to contact them and they will resolve the situation quickly. I called them back, and again asked them to look up the order information as they would not do an exchange without proof of the order number. They said they could not find the order. Keep in mind, this was the same person who looked up my order info on the first call. I explained to them that they she just looked up my info 3 weeks ago and she said It must have been with some other company and that I never ordered anything from them. After some arguing, she finally told me they dont keep records after 6 months. (even though it was a year after the order was originally placed when she looked it up the first time) Well, I was plenty ticked off at this point so I submitted a complaint with the FBI online fraud investigations site and left a follow-up with the BBB to declare that the issue had not been resolved. (BBB gives 10 days to do a follow up after the company responds to a complaint). I also left them bad reveiws at Bizrate, Pricewatch and here. I also posted links to the FBI fraud site on each review I left.
OCSystem is a small chain of companies owned by Encour Ennovations. I would like to hear others sound off about their experiences with OCSystem and what their final outcomes were.
So far, the only thing that has brought me any comfort in all this is the fact that there have been no reviews of them in over a month which means that hopefully no one is ordering from them. I just wish Pricewatch would stop listing them.
