Be careful with ZipZoomFly.com

I know that these guys have a pretty good reputation. Their selection is good and the prices are very competitive. However, if you ever need to return something or exchange a DOA product, they are going to stick you with a 15% restocking fee. I realize that returns could incur this, but DOA exchanges should not. I ordered a stick of Corsair XMS3200 RAM and put it in a previously working machine. The machine consistently crashed shortly after booting. I ordered a cross-ship replacement. As I would expect, they charged me for the cross-shipped item with the understanding that it would be refunded when they got the defective item. To my surprise, however, they kept 15% of the amount that was supposed to be refunded. I emailed them asking what the problem was, and they replied that the RAM was functioning correctly. This was definitely not the case as the new stick I got worked flawlessly. This seems to be the biggest complaint that I hear about these guys. If you happen to get something that doesn't work and try to exchange it, they say it was working when you return it and charge you a restocking fee. This looks like a class-action waiting to happen. Alternately, nearly all credit cards will protect you against this kind of stuff. Call them and dispute the charge if it happens to you.

This happened to me when I ordered a cheap stick for my sister Celly 1.1.. I figured cheap ram would be ok. Ordered a no name stick from a random website that had it cheapest, and it didnt' work. After returning it, I got a credit for 15% less than what I paid. Not a restocking charge, but the "fair market price" - which was in their terms and conditions.

Bottom line, read before you buy. If you don't, it's your fault.

Well thank you for the heads up. Googlegear seems to have a very solid rating on RR, but I'll remember this!

I have ordered from the company mentioned many times over the years , never had a problem , BUT I have never had to return anything either . I have ordered memory many times from them , recently even , just been lucky so far .
Anything I've ever returned that was opened , good or bad , I had to pay a 15% fee , including the best rated sites out there .
