Monarch on the other hand I would STAY away from!
Sounds like a pretty rough deal. But I have to keep them in my favorites list, with a rating of 9.86. Did you post your experience on resellerratings?

Doesn't Multiwave still do assembly and installation?

Otherwise, there's a company called Aberdeen Computers (or something similar) that we built a machine for my buddy who does audio work for. Great customer service and their prices are competitive. Just another option for ya.

I just dealed with a local pc store, bought the things I needed after doing research and talking with the people in this forum and I have been happy ever since...

Also, what is everyones experience with Monarch Computer Systems? Their reseller rating is great but some users have posted some honestly horrible things. I have about 2000 dollars to spend (out the door) and I am looking to buy a gaming system.

Dell, Alienware and Falcon Northwest are out ( Dell just plain sucks, Alienware is too pricey and their customer service sucks and FN is just TOO damn expensive.) but anything else you can suggest would be welcome

Neocomputers.com looks like a good place but they only have a 7.50 rating.

Any advice folks?

Thanks in advance!
The Dell XPS series is a great solution for gamers. Like siliconjunkie said, the key to getting the most out of a high end Dell is just doing a clean format and installing a corporate version of XP. I've handled over $50,000 worth of Dells and couldn't be happier, and my clients would agree.

If you don't go with Dell, build it yourself. It's really not that difficult once you sit down and think about it. Plus you get extreme performance if you do everything right. Cheap too.

And please, don't bash Dell if you've never handled one or two. It's really annoying.

What we all should do is "help" him build his system. By that I mean everyone post their reccomendations for the parts he needs. With a budget of $2000 we might even be able to get 2 systems out of that connected to 1 monitor with a KVM switch.

Well said. But if he doesn't fell comfortable... *shrug*

Ya know how that goes

My first build I was so picking nervous. Now it's almost like no big whoop. I was really concerned about the thermal paste on the AMDs, and now I apply the paste with ease

Experience will help him the most, but he'll have to get over that first hump to begin

TIMO is willing, is Drazzil?

Avoid Monarch

I've had very bad luck with Monarch Computer Systems. Shipping to an incorrect address, after we agreed to pay overnight to get it to our office before the holidays. After 3 calls where I'm told I'll hear back about disputing this charge, I get no response. I can't say whether their actual equipment is any good, but I can say that their customer service is TERRIBLE!
