It does seem like it has been a day or two longer alll of the sudden...( been with netflix for about 5 months)

I was able to rent the entire first 2 seasons of OZ, (I think it was 6 discs) within a week and a half. Netflix cost est = $9....Blockbuster price=$25

I will try that cancellation though

Ditto... they are pretty good... Although I might give Netflix a try one of these days...

kg2k- If you've been a member for a very long time and they lowered the package price, they probably won't just lower you price. You agreed to terms, so those terms are still in effect.. they like money. The first time I cancelled they emailed me telling me a movie hadn't been received, so they'd charge me the full price of the DVD. I replied with (remember my screen name!! ) a nice short note about filing a complaint with my credit card company and not rejoining, and they didn't charge me. And they got the dvd back, what a shock.

Yes. But they email you if this happens, so you can add more movies to your queue.

As far as new members getting things quicker, it's possible. The return center I mail them to is about 50 miles away, so my returns happen the very next day, and another is shipped.

I've been a member a few times, I usually cancel after a few months, then join again after a break. You watch all the new releases you want, then move on to a few you wanted to see a few years ago, then TV shows (They have Oz, X Files, 24, etc.). Eventually, you will run out, unless you're renting for your family/wife/roommates, too.

I did the Wal-Mart DVD thing for about 2 months, but honestly the turnaround was horrible. It took up to 4 days (for some strange reason) to get from Houston, TX to their office in Arkansas. So it took over a week for one full turnaround.

I then decided to check out Netflix. I was always weary about them because I remember hearing more bad things than good things going on, but I figured.. hey.. free trial.

The first 2 weeks were incredible. I would get the DVD's in the next day after shipment and same thing when I return them. So I was doing nearly 3 round-trips a week.

However, after my trial ended, I noticed that it started to take a long time for them to report my DVD's as being returned. Finally, one day, 3 of the DVD's I sent back took 4 days to update on their system. This is nearly impossible, as the address on the packages were only about 60 miles from my location. There is no way it takes the post office 4 days to mail something 60 miles away.

I decided to write Netflix a note accusing them of stock piling my DVD's and slowing down my turnaround time. They pretty much blamed it on the post office.

So, as a test, I decided I would slap tracking delivery comfirmation numbers on all 3 DVD's I was sending back one day. (First, the Post Office lady told me the packages were too small, but I told her to put them on anyway.). All 3 DVD's showed delivered the following day, but it took Netflix 3 full days for them to say they received it. Clearly they are doing this on purpose.

They rope you in, and then give you the stiff.

The only reason I haven't cancelled, is because my DVD/Price ratio is still lower with Netflix than the local stores here, and the selection is bigger. Once Netflix starts becoming more expensive than renting from a local store, then I'll call it quits.

I just looked and my billing date is the 6th of every month, so that means I was just billed. I will just try and get a couple more movies this month, then make sure I don’t have any at the end of the month and cancel.

Did they in fact lower the price? I was trying to figure that out. I thought maybe just by chance the original poster had been a member longer then I had been, and was locked in at the lower rate. Regardless, unless they offer me a deal, this will probably be my last month as a member.

the reason i cancelled is because the dvd's never got here. For some reason they keep getting lost in the mail, from receiving it and sending it back. This was on the first month too.
