Let DIRECWAY work with your budget. That’s why we’ve given you two ways to pay. You can choose the up-front option, where you pay $599.98 now, and then $59.99 per month for 15 months.

Maybe you prefer to spread your payments out. That’s why we’ve created our $99.99 plan, just for you. Simply pay $99.99 up front, and then $99.99 per month for the first 15 months. This $99.99 per month covers installation, equipment cost, and monthly fee, in easy payments. After the 15th month, your monthly fee will drop down to the regular rate (currently $59.99 per month).
damn now I'd say that rules that option out forsure. I'm trying to lower the total bills not shoot them through the roof

You might want to call Comcast and complain about there rates.
When I called last April to ask them about there 45% rate inrease I was not pleased when I was told that I could receive a $15.00 discount if I ordered there 'Basic" TV cable service. I told them I would be looking into other options as far as my internet service was concerned and the next thing I know there offering me the service (internet) for $29.95 a month ( that was there offer at the time for new subscribers) for the next 6 months. I guess this was there answer to losing a customer. As I had been paying $39.95 a month I took the deal.
I've read on other forums that some people are having Comcast match the rate of DSL but I can't say for sure wether it works.
How or why I ended up with the $19.95 a month, no idea but i'm not complaining.

Well if this isn't a bunch of BS we just got a letter in the mail today that says in order to maintain the current premium channels we have wich is just HBO we will have to upgrade to digital. I was giving it thoughts but to be forced to do so kinda sucks. Guess I'll make the call and see if i raise enough hell if they'll give us the package deal with broadband for 19.95/mo but damn even at that we are looking at almost $90/mo cable has been $63 and change plus $20 more...

these prices are just way out of hand

Here is what I would do:

Ditch everything but cable and power.

Get whatever cable channels you want along with broadband.

Then goto www.vonage.com and get VoIP phone for $38 (with tax)

Here is what this did for me:
I was paying MCI just under $80 a month for The Neighborhood plan. Which starts as a $49 plan, but once you add taxes, it almost doubles. And I was paying $110 for my Digital cable w/HBO, HD and broadband. So I was hitting just under 200 for those 2.

I now have the same digital cable/broadbad at $110/mo and vonage for $38/mo. So we are at $148 for the whole thing.

$60 a month savings is great and I can't say enough good things about Vonage.

IMHO, the very best combination would be Comcast HSI, along with the $10 basic cable service, and Dishnetwork for the remainder of your cable channels. The basic cable service will cover ALL your local channels, where the satellite hookup will only offer about half of them. Then use Dishnetwork for the remainder of your cable channels. Figure about $50 for Comcast and $25 for Dishnetwork. Not outrageous.
