Power adapter/supplies

I've wondered if there is a place to order a 120vac power adapter based on the specs you need? For instance, I have a perfectly good 5-port switch that was marketed by LiveWire which was under warranty but the company no longer exists. It requires an output of about 5vdc and 2.3 amps. If I had the main guts of something close to that I could use the lead from the bad one I have. Also, what's the concensus on replacement cell phone car adapters? I got two new Motorola T-Mobile phones in September/October and already one of the cheezy adapters is toast. They won't stand behind it telling me I have to contact Motorola about a replacement.
And, as a side note, am I the only one who still has adapters laying around that no longer have any use? It's just that I hate to throw them out and I probably have some going on 10-15 years old. Is there a place that will accept them for recycle or should I just toss them?

Radio Shack has an adjustable one with several settings and several plug adapters. Don't have one here so I don't know the specs

I know what you're talking about but normally those don't have the Amp rating that I need.

You are not the only one that saves adapters, I checked all mine, but the only one that is 5V is only 1.75.watts. I think you need about 11.5

That link you provided is for a manufacturing outfit that would produce 1000's of pieces, not just one. So, yes, it would be expensive but thanks for trying.

That last site you found shows no picture of the item plus they are saying 2-4 weeks to be shipped and it would run almost $23 after $8 for S&H. I could buy another complete switch for that kind of money which would probably be the smart thing to do. But I just can't throw out something that works. It's an illness you know. Not to diminish the effort you've put into helping me, I thank you!
