I sent in an RMA to New Egg for an exchange. However, they no longer had the item, so they offered me a refund. I could not credit the refund back to my credit card that I used for the purchase, as I closed the account. So, New Egg customer service rep said they'd send me a check in the mail. It only took like 2 weeks (give or take a day) from confirmation of the RMA to the check in my hand.
A previous credit card refund was only like a day or two faster than a check in the mail. New Egg is pretty good about refunds.
