DON'T BUY.COM Advisory

Today is a day of buying for many--and many Vendors send out email Messages promising "deals".

In regard to BUY.COM , Pa-leeeeze go to RESELLERS RATINGS before you bite.

I've posted this Advisory here, rather than Buyers Guidance Forum, bwcause this is where Members come looking for deals, and because BUY.COM is a BIG Company, many may make the mistake I made in thinking it must be of at least Avarage quality.

Wasted time and a trip to RESELLERS RATINGS tought me otherwise.

[I have Posted my experience at BUYERS GUIDANCE FORUM where it belongs].

Go to RESELLERS RATINGS before you buy at what I now call DON'T BUY.COM, or for that matter any big Vendor you have not had prior positive experiences with.

Big doesn't always mean of even " minimally acceptable quality" as I learned
the hard way.

Good Luck Buying !

Honk if this helps you.

I've also dealt successfully with them several times - but not recently.
Looks like their service has gone downhill considerably.

Thanks for the heads up, w/o it I would never have looked at RR before ordering from them!

Ive ordered before...it went ok, but I have been a little miffed because a few weeks back they had a printer deal I needed, I NEVER could get signed on..period..even after I changed passwords etc.

I like the looks of "ecost.com" but their rating scared me off, lol.

I have bought from buy.com several times over the years , once I got a video card that was not as advertised , not a pro version as advertised BUT buy.com paid for all the shipping back and forth and made it right so I have to give them a positive rating .

Thanks for the heads up

My first online buying experiences were with buy.com about six years ago. It was great -- fast shipping, sealed products, and really good customer support. They even happily RMA'ed with no restocking fee a perfectly good video card that I had opened and installed but had to return because it wouldn't work with the POS HP I had at the time.

I haven't been tempted to go back to buy.com in recent years because their prices are no longer competitive with other sellers...and I don't think I would even consider them for future purchases based on their ratings now.

Now, when I look to buy stuff online (and I buy a lot of stuff online), I first check resellerratings, which out-and-out ROCKS in my opinion.

Send a message via ICQ to brandon184
.. which is why resellerratings.com exists. People can go there, look up the retailer of their choice to weight and/or analyze the legitimacy of the rating themselves. Instead of relying upon one bad testimonial (or one good testimonial, as far as that goes) to decide whether or not to buy from a company.

I have bought CDRW, memory, and other PC parts from them without any problems at all. My most recent was this past September and the order went flawlessly. Ever try emailing them with your concerns and see what they will do about it?

Thank goodness for Reseller Ratings!

I sorely remember the days before the internet when buying "mail-order" out of magazines was often a total roll of the dice.
