I was worried when an item was not delivered, but I knew that this was not buy.com fault. The local post office insisted that the item was delivered and there was no person present at the office at that time... I sent 2 emails and got a response 3 days later and buy.com did agree to investigate. Another 3 days later refund was issued. Considering the number of their customer base, not sure what percentage is when compared with customer satisfied without posting positive comments here with negative ones from unhappy customers.

Well the majority of people that have no issues will not bother posting here so its hard to get a totally accurate picture of how things are. This is a great place to get a feel for how good or bad customer service can be or to help people avoid scams and questionable business. As for me personally I would have been better off ordering my tv from Newegg since I have had better experiences with them in the past. As people have said, Buy.com is okay until you have a problem then it turns into a nightmare.

Well, to give a positive side to Buy.com, I've decided to pipe in. I have ordered a few times from Buy.com in the past, but nothing recently (although it was definitely after the first post in this thread).
Each time the order has come in a timely fashion and correct. One time I even found the item at a lower price at a competitor and they honored their price match guarantee for me.
As someone else noted in a previous post though, everything was fine for me with my orders so I never had to deal with their customer service (save for the price matching). Maybe if I had an issue with an order, I might be venting here instead.

I just got done leaving my neg review about my experiance with buy.com. People are right, this place blows and should be avoided at all costs. Emails take days to get answered. Phone calls take close to an hr before they get a live person, they probably hope you will get tired of waiting and hang up. Even when you do get a live person, they are of no help. Pretty much nothing but telling you what you already know, giving you the run around, and feeding you lies. I ordered an item on the 8th and they couldn't ship it because of a billing address issue. Bah, I think thats just being used as an excuse for not wanting to sell the item at the advertised price or because its not instock anymore.
However, I gave them all the info they needed (an hr after the request) to verify this issue but I doubt they took the time to do it. I'm sorry but it does not take 5+ days to make a simple 5min call to the creditcard company to verify. From day 1 they did manage to put a temp charge on the card. According to my last call which was yesterday, they did say this has been corrected and the item will be shipping no later than today. Well the order status still says it hasn't and I doubt it will. This place is just dragging there feet and thats pi$$ing me off. I want my tv! My brother is in the market for a tv and wants my current one but I gotta get the new one first.
Tried calling them to see why it wasn't shipped. Set the phone on speakerphone and did other stuff. A little over 2hrs it finnally started to ring! Imagine that. After all that time, it announced some stupid phone problem issue and I had to hang up. These people really need to get there act together. Hope they go out of business.

Yeah they are just getting sales because they always have just a little bit lower price than anyone else... well ya since they spend no money on customer support and make it difficult to return stuff, sure they can have a lower price.
I think they like Google Checkout because that ads even more delays to customer service. I started the process over a defective HDMI cable and could see it was going to be a long drawn out process, so I gave up. It did not cost enough for me to waste time with them.

I still want this tv which is the Olevia 542I. However, everyone else has it for much more money. Sure theres a few other cheap places but they all have terrible reviews here. Cheapest one which doesn't have to bad of reviews is beachcamera which lists it for $1,149.00! Thats like $200 more than what buy.com had it for! I don't mind spending a few bucks more (like maybe $50) to get it from a place with good reviews BUT not $200 more.
Anyways, its now 2-14 and the order still is stuck processing. Plus for the past couple days I can't even get a hold of anyone there. Tired of waiting on hold and burning up my cell minutes. They have a temp hold of the funds with my cc as well.

I tried an Olivia 37" LCD and it had no voltage spike protection when the component cables came unplugged while it was on. It happened to me and scrambled it's internal computer. When accessing the menu, entries would be in places where they shouldn't have been and if I changed temperature from the default, it lost all green. It also messed up whites and it was too bright. I sent it back to computers4sure.com. They took care of it and I didn't get charged a dime.
I feel sorry for people that bought these models because I saw the same problem on the demo unit at a local MicroCenter store so I know these were pumped out of the factory with this defect.

BUY.COM???!!!
Have had good dealings with buy.com on PURCHASING items, but NOT on returns and/or repairs! They "aren't responsible" once the item is sold! Burned my once or twice, but they actually did help me contact "manufacturer's customer service" on an item which did get replaced under warranty. YMMV.

I have an olevia LT30HV now which I think is a discountinued model. Thats a 30" lcd. Great tv, never any issues. First one did and the folks at olevia were nice about getting an exchange. So thats why I'ld buy another olevia. I want a 42+ lcd but want to stay around the $1k range. Heck I paid that when I first bought this one a few yrs ago.

If they were quick to take care of it, that is good. |
