agree don't buy

I just bought a 106" projector screen from them. they sent me a 100". When I told them of the mistake they said I could return the 106" if it was defective? I call it 6" short that's defective........Anyway now I have to wait for them to ship me a label for shipping and when it is received I should look for a refund in 10 -14 days. They told me they didn't have a replacement screen in stock but I could keep the 100" for the same price! GREAT OFFER. All this after I paid for blue UPS shipping. Now its going to be weeks for a refund and still no screen........DON'T BUY.COM

I wish I would have checked buy.com's ratings before I did a little Christmas shopping. I didn't, and I am out $160 because they sent me an empty box that was supposed to contain an MP3 player. AN EMPTY FRIGGIN' BOX! And they have the balls to claim that because (the EMPTY) package weighed the same at the warehouse as it (the EMPTY package) did when the shipper picked it up that I should have received the MP3 player implying that my claims (I have filed two - both rejected) were fraudulent.

Like many others who have posted to this thread, I have bought from buy.com a fair bit between work and personal purchases over the years and never had a problem. But I have also never had a problem, and never experienced the non-existent customer support they offer.

So listen to MegalosSkylaki and spend a few extra bucks to save yourself the headache. Or play Russian roulette with buy.com. Just don't complain when you shoot yourself.

I am under the impression that anyone that knows of buy.com's rep and still continues to use them is an absolute moron.

I am OK with buy.com

I have ordered about 10 items this Christmas season, and I have received almost all items except one. One of purchases was lost during shipment, and today I got my refund. I understand that a lot of people are upset with buy.com, but maybe I am the lucky one since I have only positive comments about this company.

A moron or masochist. It's really fun to waste your free time (which I have very little of. I have two little kids and free time is a precious commodity) sitting on hold, filing claims with the CC company and BBB, typing email after email...

My mistake was that I only checked a reseller's rating when I haven't heard of the company. Not anymore.

I bought the Star Trek DVD movie collection from buy.com for $80 (minus $20 by using Google checkout = $60) and used the free "budget" shipping on December 20th. I received the boxset on December 29th, which equals 7 business days. I'm very pleased with the low price and shipping time (budget shipping is usually 5 - 9 business days), so I'll most likely be buying from Buy.com again.

Well, some folks are pleased with this vender--indeed, one month there was something like two pleased and 16 displeased.

Because of the scarcity of very satistisfied, I often ask them to write again.

So if you buy again and are satisfied twice in a row, I hope you'll take the time to let us know. A "streak" like that deserves atention !

I ordered my item two weeks before Christmas with assurance that it would arrive on time. When it became obvious that it would not arrive on time a week later, I filed a cancellation request. The item shipped anyways and arrived on December 26th. Although it is unopened, Buy.com refuses to accept my return and instead insists that I return it to the manufacturer which will not accept it since I did not buy it from them. This lack of customer service is *completely* unacceptable and I will never purchase another item from buy.com again

I never received the package so after spending hours on hold I get an invalid tracking number from them. Now they say the shipping company confirmed that it was delivered. I know I never received it and I have yet to get a working tracking number that says different. Buy.com has NO customer support, its just short emails that create more questions than answers.....

I have ordered several things from Buy.com in the past. This time I ordered a tuner card and I noticed something strange after hitting the submit button for the order. They switched the free shipping to paid shipping at the last minute and I did not catch it in time. They do list a change option button on the page so I sent them an email to change the shipping on the product and they told me there was nothing they could do and I got charged for shipping. I though that was a very shady thing to do so I will not be ordering from Buy.com ever again.

I order 4 or more items a year from Buy.com. I have no complaints. Each buy I make has been an incredible deal. For instance, I got a no longer made accessory kit for a Fuji Finepix for just a dollar and reasonable shipping. I buy memory modules at unbeleivable prices from Buy.

A large cost cutting seller like Buy is going to generate unhappy customers. Anyone who sells millions of dollars of items a year will have at minimum a few thousand unhappy buyers.

I never buy Christmas gifts from any online seller after December 1st. I would never buy a mail order item from anyone after Dec 7th, if I need it for a gift by Dec 24. No mail service is reliable after the 7th & no large shipping department can get orders out with precise timing. Just common sense.

Placed order on Dec 13th - Site states order shipped Dec 14th - Rec'd order Dec 29th. I rec'd the WRONG ITEM! I called their CS immediately and talked to a rep who said there was nothing they could do because it was over the 14 day time frame..............................

I will never buy again from Buy.com. It is the second time I Purchase something from them posted as available in 1-2 business days. It has now been a month and I have not received the Item (last time the same thing happened). Not only that, when I called Customer service they are completely unable to help............................

Buy.com applied its 'special returns policy' to my 32" HDTV - meaning "returns and exchanges will not be accepted under any circumstance", even though it arrived defective. I wasn't aware of this tactic though now I know they are notorious for it. The more helpful manufacturer (Viewsonic) explained that returns are Buy.com's responsibility, but they hear constantly from Buy.com customers left hanging. The Viewsonic agent even advised me not to use Buy.com again.

As said by others, DO NOT BUY from Buy.com. Their return policy is 14 days from the time it leaves their warehouse and they are EXTREMELY slow to ship. Basically, you have to get a refund by canceling the charge on your card. Terrible company to do business with.

I will NEVER buy from Buy.com EVER!!! and will make it known to everyone I can. They have a 14 dat return policy and that is 14 days from the tiome it leaves their warehouse.

I had to shorten many of the Very Dissatisfied Ratings for the sake of saving a lot of space, but I often used dots..........to show where it was cut.

Also, I usedRed Lettering for emphasis supplied and larger print for ALL of the VERY SATISFIED Ratings to make sure that they are ALL especially noticed.

I thought I would share my story on my purchase of a Westinghouse LVM-37W3. I ordered this the evening of Christmas day when they offered a big sale on this tv. The total cost was a hair above $1000 after the markdown and google checkout discount. The order went through on the 26th and I got an email saying it shipped on the 27th. Unfortunately there was no tracking number although it indicated that the tv shipped by UPS ground.

I waited about a week then sent an email on the 3th asking what the tracking order was. After getting no reply besides the standard message that my email was received I called the 800 number and finally got through to someone in about 15 minutes. Of course the person on the other end was useless and basically told me the same information that I could pull up online. He did say he would escalate the problem. On the 9th I got an automatic message from a shipping company called Sekoworldwide that said I needed to schedule a delivery time. After getting to someone on the other end, which went fairly quickly, I was told it would be delivered on the 12th, which was the quickest I could get it.

Later on that evening I finally got an email from Buy.com stating that the order was shipped through Sekoworldwide and provide me a tracking number. The tv got delivered on the 12th and arrived in good condition and I am pleased with it so far.

To sum it up I had no problem waiting for 12 business days, not including weekends and the New Year's holiday, but the fact I had a week of not knowing my shipping status gave me a few headaches. If they provided the tracking number from the start I would give them a very satisfied review but I will end up docking them some for the mild consternation for a week or so.

HERE IS THE DEAL FOLKS!

For those who bought from buy.com and were "happy with no problems"
those people most likely ordered something, received it in a timely manner, got the right stuff, and went on with their life...it happens.

That same incident happened to me, oh a few times from buy.com
over the last few years.

HOWEVER

If you got the WRONG item, a defective item, or need to return the item for any reason - FORGET IT!

The "happy people" (as the few shall be called) have never had to deal with buy.com customer service. And if they had a good experience (recently) that got very lucky.

I had to deal with this horrible organization recently with a "problem" and just about went into a rage. The emails took along time to reply, and they I received FORM LETTERS that were NOT even related to the question/problem. After multiple form letters that didnt assist me at all, I attempted to call them. I waited on hold for over 45 minutes, then was transfered to a 'supervisor" (india) and waited for another 25 minutes. Then GOT DISCONNECTED!!.. funny enough i took the time to actually call back and waited another 45 minutes and got disconnected yet AGAIN!! By the third time I waited another 43 mins and actually got to a live rep in India and they transfered me to a supervisor which I actually got to speak with after a 10 min hold. WOW!!! then the person was incompetent and would not assist me. He said I could not return the item because it was past 14 days. Well if I would have gotten a response from email support SOONER, then it wouldnt have taken so long.

I have bought alot online. Ive bought from newegg, amazon, dell, to name a few. My experience at buy.com was the ULTIMATE WORST EVER. I will never be back, I will cancel my account there, and go on a mission to advise everybody i know to avoid them like the plague.

And finally, if you read this far (thanks if you did) for those that had a "happy" experience. Keep shopping there and hope like heck you never have to return anything or get a wrong item. Your time is coming...trust me.
