I just had an irritating experience with them as well. They have a special on the F5D8230-4 router from Belkin for $113 including shipping. This is/was posted several places on the net including CNET, Resellerratings, and DealTime. So I downloaded the manuals from the Belkin site and read them. Then I went to order it and it was $138.00. Next I contacted Customer Service. The person I talked to with a thick accent said I could email him the picture of the special. I did. Then he said it wouldn't be going to him. Then he said just order it, and afterward do a price match. That sounded risky. I said I need to talk to someone who can make the decision since the deal had only one more day before it expired. (Expires on 1/2/05, today). I talked to his supervisor, also with a thick accent. She said just process your order, and see what the price is. I did, it was $138. That changes the equation and I wouldn't have read manuals for that. Now that I did, I'll do what I can to make it worth their while to honor their offer. I submitted a complaint to ResellerRatings, president of CNET, with screen shots of their offer from three different sources, and will post so that others don't have the same thing happen to them.

I just had and still am having a not so great experience as well. They had a sale on a MSI 6800 GT video card for $389.00 on 12/27/04. I ordered and it was delivered on 12/29/04. Great so far, huh. Well put the card in and just colored squares on screen during boot. I called there customer service, India I think, and no one knows anything but to tell me to RMA it. I said ok, printed label and sent. Well didn't realize shipping from Alabama to California would take from 12/30/04 till 1/05/05. They said could take 7 - 10 days from when they get return till they ship replacement and the replacement would take 7 - 10 days to get here. So they have my $389.00 and I am going to have to wait almost a month to get a working card. I was mad so I called customer service to find a better remedy, of course they could only read from the manual and no help. I asked to speak to supervisor, was put on hold 5 minutes then hung up on. I then called corporate office in California and insisted on talking to someone in local office and not in India which I was able to do. I explained situation and was advised to reorder and they would credit 1st order upon return to warehouse. OK. Well order said shipped on 12/30/04, well tracking says so but no info, so on 1/3/05 called there shipper APX and they said they still do not have my package to ship and could take 7 days to deliver from when they get. So far no better off and they have over $800 of my money!!!!! If they come thru and delivery is made this week, I'll change my view and post update, otherwise ...

I did just as you suggested. I went to ResellerRatings, found the lowest reliable vendor, and bought from them. They even gave me another $10 off that I didn't expect.
That class action decoy is one that I had never heard of. Awesome scoop!

What can I say that will be of any consolation to the victims of this Company who have posted above ?
Don't buy from them is only blaming the victim at this point.
My suggestion is to buy from the cheapest ethical Vender--not the cheapest. Then your chances are better of not having a problem , and better in having it resolved expeditiously.
Recently I saw what looked like an amazing deal: an aluminum case at $20 ! But when I looked it up at ResellersRatings, it had only 9 responses. While they were favorable, it's still a small sample of opinion -and just who'se opinion?- so I didn't byte.
My best suggestion is to write to the California Attorney General as the company lists a very small town in CA as its address. My suspicion is growing that it may be really operating from "off-shore." Even if this were so, its last known address is listed as in CA. E-mails and letters to the Company have only one virtue, that of establishing a record of "due diligence" on your part.
Perhaps the CA AG can help you.
Alternatively-or additionally --a class action suit might be helpful -but be wary of "class actions" that are only fronts for the Company...to pre-empt a real and vigerous class action.

I read you assessment of buy.com! I have make two similar posts on them and totally agree with you. As many potential customers as we can diswade from purchasing from this shabby internet supplier, the better.

BUY.COM = SCAM.
Placed an order for a PC2100 1GB on Jan 5, 2005.
3 days later (Jan 8, 2005), a shipment confirmation was e-mailed to me indicating the UPS tracking number.
I have been checking the shipment status for 3 weeks and it still shows that UPS has not received the shipment from buy.com.
I called buy.com customer service. Someone from India picked up the phone. I explained the problem to her. All she could do was reading the damn invoice. What the he11 ? Does she think that only Indian can read the invoice ??
Asked whether they have the correct tracking number, and the idiot just re-read the same tracking number over and over.
Asked why it takes so long (3 weeks) from the day they claimed they shipped it through UPS, and still nobody can track the shipment. Her answered was there is nothing she and buy.com can do since the package were sent out. It was outside buy.com's control.
I called UPS customer service asking whether UPS has knowledge about such package. UPS said that tracking number was INVALID.
I called my credit card company and reported such scam. They credited my credit card back and they will dispute this matter with buy.com.
