[rant]It seem like MIB don't even bother send you your money until you pick up the phone and numerous emails to remind them. They are so damn quick to withdraw money out of you bank, and yet they are so damn slow to send you back your money. I remember it took me ONE YEAR to get my $50 MIB from Seagate. I probably stick with newegg and other online stores from now on[/rant end]

People have complained about rebates for years. I have magazines going back to 1998, and even as far as 1997, with people (and whole columns!) venting about rebates. I even read articles online with people hating them as far back as 1994. Don't fall for them, or be very patient.

It took about 1 - 2 1/2 years to get a Zoom Modem Rebate. All that BS for $50.00

Most amusing is what sprint did. Recieved a check, which cost $0.37 cents to mail, for a $0.50 account credit. (wireless service)Logic?

How would you cash it anyway? "Uhh, I only want ones and fives (pennys and nickels ) )

Also, I have a total of $467 MIB which i haven't receive. That $50 is just one of the example.

not putting you down, you deserve the money. Stay away from them, and use newegg.

Thats a bummer. I must be lucky. I've gotten all my rebates within a few weeks.

Western Digital $75.00us mail in rebate took about 4 weeks.
It's what Canada Post did to the cheque on the way that had me PO'ed. They ripped it in 3 easy pieces. All the parts were there so the bank allowed the transaction. (Luckily!) I thought I would have to go through the hassle of returning the cheque and waiting for a reply. I'm sure that would have gone to the dead letter office at WD.

I'm curious as to what precautions people take to ensure they get the rebate. I tape my rebate form, UPC, and receipt to a single sheet of paper. I write on the paper the date it was mailed and the amount of the rebate. Then I scan it before mailing it. That way I have proof of what I sent, and when it was sent. Anyone have additional ideas?

what about the uk? we don't get mail in rebates (not usually) and not a lot of discount prices. for a dvd writer for example £120 is fairly cheap which is about $204.28 us, whilst £150 is more usual which tallies to $255.35 us. conversions by www.xe.com . those lovely panasonic dual format writers i saw a while back bouncing round on the forums, the company selling them doesn't ship international (or even to canada) if only!

most of those companiys try to keep the money as long as they can for interest rate
