New Rebate twist....funny

So I get an email confirm for a maxtor rebate. Some of you got it too Im sure.

Shows the amount of the rebate...$30. Then it has --->

"You can choose any one of the items below as your rebate reward. There is no extra cost to you."

LOL. So now they are trying to pawn off junk on people. Can you imagine the hassle..what if you got it and it was broke or something, lol.

Pulleeezz.

Of course all the stuff shows a value of between $35 tp $45ish so you think you are getting further ahead.

Veo Stingray Web Camera (USB)
Microsoft Blue Optical Mouse
PrintShop CD Label Kit with Twenty CDs
Sony MDR-G52LP Street Style Stereo Headphone
RPI CD-55 Player w/ Speakers

uhh, no thanks, Ill be taking that check, thank you

If there was an option to take a lesser amount of $$ instead of the rebate at time of purchase, I might do it.

Dont hold your breath...cuz that would go against the basic reasoning behind rebates..as far as the companies were concerned...that would make it easier for you, lol....what they are doing by offering the items after the rebate is approved is just giving themselves one more chance to save a few bucks.....after theyve made you go thru the labyrinth required to get the thing approved they give you one more shot at losing some of your $$$.

Rebates are like dirty water going through a filtering process....the more filters=the more stuff gets caught up. So of all the thousands who buy a product....only a small % come thru all the filters. This latest twist is sort of like a little filter on the end saying "hey, do you want a $30 rebate or a $20 rebate??!". The companies know that invariably some people will choose the $20.
