Kids How many returns have you had with Newegg?

I was just curious. Seems everyone loves Newegg. I find them much less amazing than most from my own shopping experiences, though for a while they were my only stop. This is partly because I seem to have a lot of returns with them. Today I have to RMA a hard drive, but it's only my second of MANY [purchased] from them to be RMA'd (if I recall correctly).

But my biggest return factor with them is motherboards. Are they selling me returned mobo's? Because my percentage of mobo's from them found to be defective is through the roof, and I don't buy refurb's. Anybody else have this problem with them? I see a lot of good reviews on Newegg, many of which involve a return going better than with most vendors. But there are a TON of these, meaning a ton of returns. Many of which I have read were a motherboard.

I certainly hope they're not reselling returned items as new. I don't see how else I could get so many defunct boards, though.

After many many orders with Newegg and over 20 mob purchased I had to RMA 2 mobos both were DOA and unopened boxes. I also deal alot with directron and have purchased close to 10-12 mobo's from them with 1 DOA sealed mobo. I think it just depends on the mobo maker and how well they are built.

I've only had good experiences with Newegg. I just bought a monitor. I ordered it monday and got it wednesday!

As for mobo's I've gotten about 5 from newegg. 1 was dying. It was a Gigabyte KT333 based board, its lan went out then its sound got really messed up. Any way it was about a year after I bought it and they replaced it no questions asked and gave me not a KT333 board but the next better Gigabyte board, a KT400! It was top of the line with SATA and junk and it worked fine though I bought a EPOX board to replace it because I was really ticked at Gigabytes tech support and general quality. Any way all the returns that friends have made have been because they messed up on installation and yet Newegg STILL replaced the parts free of charge! How good is that!?! I buy all my PC equipment from them (well except for used stuff from TIMO forums).

I have made a lot of purchases, ram, motherboards, cpus, video cards, bleh bleh bleh. I have yet to have anything come DOA or quit functioning. Their speedy delivery, and quality products are why i stick with them.
So no bad experiences for me, fortunately.

I had one mb fail after a month/ cheerfully exchanged in a couple days (they are down the street from me) had a case arrive once that was the wrong color, they picked it up, another no problem exchange---ive spent $1000's with only these 2 "incidents"...

Well they sure are taking their time with my return. USPS left them notice at 7am Oct 31. They picked up the package sometime Nov 3 [at least that's the day the RMA status' changed to received]. And it is the end of Nov 6 and all three RMA's are still "processing". I wouldn't call this speedy.

As for mobo's, off the top of my head I've had to return 1 Asus KT400 mobo with another in need of return, 1 MSI KT400 board returned with dead 1394, and I have another MSI board recently purchased from them that has non-functional onboard sound that needs returned as well. Considering these two brands are very well known for quality, I can't say that to be a good strategy for functional items from them. Also had a Shuttle KT133a board die just after the one year mark (though I blame a couple crappy PSU's for it and another board's demise)

I've had one CPU fan arrive FOA, at least two cases damaged beyond reasonable repair. Two Chieftec keyboards die...well, that's most of it off the top of my head anyway. Some can be chocked up to luck of the draw or poor products, but I'm not so sure about the motherboards.

[sigh]

Oh well

Have you ever bought anything from MWave.com? Doubt it'll really help with your problem of dying parts but it might make you feel a bit better. And if you buy your cpu's with your mobo's you might save a few bucks too.

Just a thought. I've had really positive experiences with both vendors.

NewEgg is one of the few online vendors that I have never had to RMA product back. I can say the same for Axion, though I have only ordered a few items from this vendor. Maybe I am lucky, who knows?

Still, I have received my fair share of dead motherboards, but I can usually blame the problems on the manufacturer, not the retailer.

Only some are dying. Most of these issues are upon arrival. Though perhaps I have some sort of electromagnetic field surround my ora for the ones that do develop after arrival

I bought from Mwave, but I can't for the life of me remember if they were the ones...nope they weren't. Had one order with them, they were fine. Though I was not satisfied with their product descriptions.

EDiT

Looks like they have GREATLY improved their details since my last purchase several years ago...

I have returned 3 different vid cards and 1 stick of ram.

1 abit ti4200 - fan died and the core burned up.
1 gainward ti4200 - worked fine for 2 or 3 months and just quit.
1 radeon pci card was DOA.
1 Crucial 512mb 2700 worked fine for about 2 weeks then random crashes.

All returns were hassle free and I don't think any of them were newegg's fault. It sound like a lot of stuff but I have probably spent 8 or 9 thousand there in the past 12 months, so it's really a small percentage.
