i need a dual athlon mobo with 8x agp HELP!

im looking for a motherboard with 8X agp support

dual athlon board, i cant seem to find one with 8X support i made the mistake in not realising my 8x card needs to be .8v and not 1.5v so its running rather hot.

ive had it running in my pc for a while seems ok but id rather get a new board as i cant find a decent 128mb geforce fx card that is 4X......maybe you cant buy one like that??? i dont know.

ive got a tyan tiger mp motherboard now which has an embeded bios update version 1.5 i have since looked at other tyan boards and had no joy. i have looked at the odd other make i can find on the net but no 8x support grrr!!

my card is running at its hottest 57C thats running gta vice city. but i dont like it that high

so does anyon know where i can get a dual athlon board with 8X agp slot preferably being able to take 2800 mp processors for future upgrading. (i currently have 2X 1800 mp)

any help apreciated asap!!

I really doubt you'll find one. The only dual-athlon chipset I know of is the 760MPX. That doesn't support 4x AGP. Unless another company releases (or has released?) a different Dual athlon chipset, then you're stuck. Personally, I wouldn't run that card in the system, you might kill it and its probably a nice card.

is there a 4X card out there that is 128mb? preferably geforce, has to have a nvidia chip anyway.

no 8x agp dual socket A boards are produced as of yet
here a good board though
http://www.shentech.com/msik7dmamamd.html
you know that 8x agp add less than a 5% boost on current cards right?

yes i had heard that 8X is not much better than 4X cards, why bother waste of time if you ask me. thing is where i was buying my cards all were 8X so i thought that would do and i thought it would be fine.....until.....

one day last week someone asked me to find out the voltage of an agp card as they have a motherboard that takes 1.5v cards only.....so theres me off on the hunt for it and i came across a site with full details and i was like

OOOOHHH NOOOOOOOOOO FFS!

hence my dilema anyhow i couldnt get that link up for the agp card but i had a look on google and found it that card looks great but where would i buy it online in the uk???

far as that motherboard i was shown goes the current one i have just about has all that (except o/b sound and lan which i wouldnt use anyway) but thanks all the same and i agree it does look a nice board.

www.ebuyer.com is normally quite good, as is dabs.com and scan.co.uk.
I've had good service from all of them, ebuyer has the best prices.

Looking through it I think you'll be hard pushed to find a good (FX/Ti) 4x agp card. Never know though.

well i found a Gainward Geforce4 Ti-4200 128MB DDR AGP Powerpack! Ultra 650XP Golden Sample VIVO With Dual Selectable CRT DVI Output

looks good enough to me probably not as good as my fx card though but still it should do the job.

now ive seen another one haha cheaper and more like the one i got its a:
Gainward FX Pro660 TV/AGP 128MB DDR FX5200 chipset with TV-Out Low Profile Retail Box

says 2X 4X and 8X modes on their site im presuming if i put it in my machine it would revert to 4X mode

anyhow any comments on these 2 cards would be appreciated thanks for all your help so far.
