any ti4200 is better than the any fx5200 . now i am not sure but most 8x video cards are bacwards compatable to 4x . the only thing the 5200 has is in native dx9 . and my opinion on dx9 is it is eye candy .

almost all agp 8x cards are backwards compatible. I know all asus and ati cards are for a fact

well the second card i mentioned says it weill do 2X 4X and *x so it must be backward compatiable i suppose...........as far as ATI cards go DONT GO THERE!!! wouldnt touch them for my own machine too many problems and as ive been told games are made for working with nvidia chipsets which could be true, but then ive had no probs with any card with a nvidia chipset but ive had probs with ati chipset cards often!!!!

i dont think my 8X card is backward compatiable as i had a heat problem with it when i got it it had a nice 1" high heatsink on it yet it seemed to heat up a lot and when id played stuff like gta vice city my pc would go funny and id have to reboot or leave it off for a while to cool down contacted manufacturer they said it was designed for that card and is sufficient for it......i didnt mention nor did they about 8X mode etc anyway i got sent a new free heatsink and fan slightly lower but it has a fan and it was wider......had to cut one of the blades off al lthe way along one side as it was going over the connector for the fan and it was touching some bits on the card so i was concerned so i cut off one blade and now its a few degrees lower in temp generally running between 49C and 55c highest 57c and personally i think thats too high and considering i have a dual cpu system 2 fans sucking in the front 2 blowing out the back and an exhust blower under my agp card my general sys temp is between 45C and 57C its still high.......yet it runs fine just dont like the temp, too high for my liking.................yes before you say i know amd cpu's can run at a lot higher temp than they are but still dont like it lol

before anyone asks the heatsinks on the cpu's are rated for athlon 2800 max. and fans are 4000rpm and ive got loads of heatsink compound on them with a copper base to them touching cpu sdo its sufficient i think lol

what else can i do apart from make a hole in the side of my case and stick a massive fan there ? lol

and before anyone says anmything yet again lol i best mention my bios is ****!!! i cant change voltages etc

sorry for ranting on but if u got all the details then less questions to ask..........is that not true? lol
