buyer beware

do not fall for the rebate offer on the digital research internal dvd-rw/cd-rw drive that is being offered by best buy ($30) .
digital research is now under I/O Magic and I am still trying to get my $30 for the cd-rw that I bought at BEST BUY. If you are willing to pay the full amount that's fine but the rebate will probably never be sent to you

OfficeMax is also running continuous rebates on thier drives... I am still waiting for a $70 rebate on a DVD-Rom Drive. I purchased it back in may 2002!

Rebates Make me MAD!

Good luck w/ yours

I strongly suggest you send a copy of your submission to Best Buy headquarters, with a letter explaining your situation. I've done this in the past with CompUSA and they have sent me a gift card for the amount. I would assume BB is willing to do the same.

Retailers must realize that they are the ones advertising, selling and profiting from these rebates, and they must take ultimate responsibility for them.

Send a message via ICQ to dunbar
We need a federal 'must explain why' registry for these doofuses to explain why the rebates are refused.

Food Best Buy

I believe that Best Buy now "guarantees" rebates on items purchased from them. I recently had a rebate refused although it was valid and I had provided all required documentation.* I went into the store, spoke to the manager and showed him my documents, and got my money on the spot.

*This experience suggests to me that some of them folks workin' in the rebate office may not be rocket science material.

Nor does it take a rocket scientist to draw this conclusion.

That's encouraging news about BB, but I believe any "retail giant" will respond if you give them enough documentation.

That's why I won't buy a prodcut based on price with rebate. It's a scam. A legal one though.

lostman is right on we all should not use this and maybe it will go away and they will lower the prices instead
