Need Advice: Hiring network technician

Can anyone tell me what I might expect to pay to have a network technician on a monthly retainer? Basically, just to come in when stuff goes wrong, and for basic hardware/software upgrades.

I'm totally clueless and don't want to get run over, so any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Depends on the complexity of the network and how much time average he'd have to spend. Figure $40/hour.

Get several quotes. Most will come and look the system over. You’ll get a chance to meet them and feel them out. Ask them about their response time etc. Keep an eye out on the ones that want to upgrade everything…

Some will quote 40 bucks an hour or a monthly fee like $400 bucks for 15 hours…

I think that price might vary a good bit depending on what part of the country you're in. I'm assuming you're in the Good Ole' US of A. Still, Shahani's numbers sould pretty good to me.

Good points, depending on the area you live in. I know here in rural area's range $25-30hr+ in the city area's ranging $40+ depending on how many systems and servers.
