Restocking Fees and NewEgg

I was placing an order with NewEgg this a.m. when I noticed the 15 percent restocking fee even if the cpu arrived DOA, not my fault. So I backed out. Seems a bit unfair. Is there another good online dealer that doesn't charge for returning DOA items?

Newegg is an excellent retailer.
Here's an quote from their website;

"Money Back Guarantee- Refund period
All merchandise unless otherwise indicated may be returned within 30 days from the original invoice date for a refund. CPUs must be returned within 7 days from the invoice date for a refund. A return authorization number is required for all returns. A 15% restocking fee may apply. Additional deductions may be made for CPUs returns to reflect the current market value. These terms apply to all refunds. All new products offer at least a one year warranty except for OEM CPUs which have a 30 day warranty. Customers must inform Newegg.com of any order discrepancy within 7 days from the invoice date so that we may investigate and resolve the situation accordingly.

1. NewEgg.com SATISFACTION GUARANTEE - NewEgg.com offers our customers a 30-day satisfaction replacement or refund guarantee on all purchases, except:

7-day replacement or refund guarantee on all CPUs, including refurbished processors. All other refurbished merchandise has a 15 day warranty period.
Note: For CPU, base cost will reflect current market price, and 15% restocking fee will apply after this adjustment. Therefore, total refund is subtracting. "

Newegg policy

If your cpu arrives DOA, send it back within 7 days for a replacement it not looking for a refund. I believe that the 15% restocking fee only applys to refunds.

Actually, the 15% is across the board with everything.
I've only had to send back a couple of item's back out of hundreds of orders.
They were very cool about waving the 15% charge.
IMO, I wouldn't concern myself with the 15% restock charge.
Newegg is one of the top on-line comp supply retailers you could buy from.

Restocking Fee

Yes Newegg does have a restocking fee, but on several occasion, I have had to return items that arrived DOA and Ijust emailed them to remove the restocking fee and they have. If you bring things to their attention they will take care of it. I use Newegg faithfully and have not had a problem yet.

Newegg Restocking Fee

I have not had one yet, but I have had other items that were OEM's arrive DOA and I sent them back with no problems and no restocking fee.

The online order does require you to agree to the restocking fee. If not ordering from NewEgg what is the next best choice for ordering a processor online?

Online Ordering

I have found that www.buyxg.com is good and their prices are pretty low. For funky gaming computer parts try www.xoxide.com

digitaleagle is infamous around these parts
Newegg - going down hill?

I have spent thousands of dollars with Newegg over the years and for the most part have had very few problems with defective items. Lately, I have had two defective components that I have had to send back. Since I didn't want a replacement - as I found out they have a rash of bad parts, I asked for a refund. I was charged a 15% restocking fee for each item.

I told Newegg I wasn't very happy about their policy and feel it is unfair for people that received defective products. They did refund the charge on the first item but not on the second.

I'll have to think hard about doing business with them again.
