What's an athlon xp pc2700?

You mean XP2700+? I would go with the
Top Seller! AMD ATHLON XP 2500+ "Barton" 333 FSB PROCESSOR CPU- RETAIL , same FSB, only $90 retail compared to $141 for the XP2700+. The 2700 is certainly not worth the extra $50, IMHO. Plus you can OC the 2500+ if you want those bragging rights you're talking about.

For future reference, you don't have to post every specification of each part.

Also, I hope you're going to install Windows ME!

Mike

You might wanna consider the Abit NF7-S. Monarch computer has it for only $84 with free shipping. Might wanna check out the 2600+ Barton instead of the 2700. Newegg has it (bottom of page) for only $109. These are probably what I'm going to get for my system.
It's specs would be:
Athlon 2600+ Barton
Abit NF7-S
Slk-947 +92mm fan +Arctic Ceramique
All these are already acquired:
2 512mb pc3200 Kingston valueram
120gb WD special edition hd
Chieftec Server Case (like Antec SX1040BII) with 450w ps
Liteon dvd drive
Liteon cdrw drive

I'd say get the 2600+ instead of the 2500+. That way even if you cant OC you still have a better speed. And it's only like $20 more.
Thats why I'm getting the SLK-947u (heatsink for AMD processors), cause it is one of the best heatsinks available and will (hopefully) allow me to OC, along with the Artic Ceramique (type of thermal interface material with same peformance as Arctic Silver 3 but non conductive).

Just my $03.00. Do not bother with the Trend 2002. Go for the real deal I'm using Trend PC-cillin 2003. A little expencive but it
works well for me. That and spybot. 2003 comes with a firewall.

Starfury Nailed It. The Nf7 can outperform the A7n8 Deluxe (gonna get flamed for that one), it is cheaper because it lacks onbaord firewire and two Lan jacks, and lady talking you through the setup.

The NF7 has mounting holes in case you want to mount a radiator on the CPU and get jiggy with it.

Save on the processor, (Barton 2500), and spend it on the Ram.

Don't scrimp on the power supply, and look at case ventilation when choosing a case.

Based on what you are using it for, the processor will probably run at 10 - 12% usage, and the ram at 20 % or less at stock speeds, but you can brag about that , too.

GOOD LUCK!!
