Outdoors OfficeMax rebates

Office Max rebates are the WORST. Their only intent is to confuse and defraud you, tell you they didn't receive items when they did, etc. In other words, wear you down and hope you don't pursue it. I'm sure it works, or they wouldn't run so many rebates.

most stores don't give the rebate , the maker of the product does and they make that confusing, also whoever gives the rebat makes it really hard as to make you give up on it.

I've been lucky, I've always got my rebate, a couple took 6 months and you got to jump through many hops and walk on hot coals

I just got one denied by OfficeMax that the manufacturer approved for the exact same item. (One rebate from OM, one from Imation.) OM said that I sent the wrong UPC. I find this amusing, as I used the same UPC for both.

OfficeMax store did me right

Hey, I'm new at these message boards, so I don't know if I can reply to my own message (re: how confusing Office Max rebates are.)

Well, they still are confusing, but today I went into the store where I purchased the product in question, and the store manager gave me a $20.00 bill, no questions asked.

The rebate in question had a $20 rebate each from both the manufacturer and Office Max. Problem was, the OM rebate coupon did not correctly identify the product, so the company handling it said that I sent the wrong UPC. It would have been pointless to follow-up with the company that handles the rebates (at least in my opinion). The store manager, however, agreed that the whole rebate thing is utterly confusing, and thus gave me a cash rebate on the spot. Thank you Office Max, in Santa Rosa, CA.

You know what though, I've about had it with rebates!!!

I usually don't have too many problems with most rebates, but watch out for products from Iconcepts/Sakar! Most of the "free after rebate" products that Office Max has been promoting lately are from this company. They don't intend to pay the rebates. They say you didn't send the "original" cash register receipt and ask your to send it, knowing you no longer have it if you DID send the original!!! Of course if you made yourself a copy to prove you sent the original - that is only a copy. So then it is no longer possible to send the original if they know you can't possibly have it because they do! I called the Iconcept/Sakar rebate center number and they were real butholes about it and said they were declining all my rebates (I had sent in several). After arguing aome, they said Office Max could reprint the receipts - I already know that is not true from past experience (Circuit City can reprint receipts any time - even a month later - but Office Max cannot - not even immediately after the sale - if the paper runs out, they have to cancel everything out and ring it up again to get a receipt). Anyway after, I told them that they could not reprint the receipts, they said that Office Max could call them and approve the rebates. So I went to the store and talked to someone about it. They said they'd never heard of this sort of thing happening and would call and straighten it out, but now they're giving me a runaround claiming they can't get anyone form Iconcepts/Sakar rebate center on the phone - that teh line is always busy when they call - funny, I didn't have any problem getting someone on the phone. I think I'll' just return everything but don't know hoe well that will work without the UPC's on them. Wish me luck! I won't stop rebating, but I won't ever buy any more products from Iconcepts or Sakar if this is they way they are going to act!

I have had my hassles with Office Max too. I never received a refund for a Sakar phone (20.00) Then it took six months, and a copy of a complaint filed with the Consumer Protection Agency in our state mailed to OM headquarters to get a 30.00 refund for a chair. OM hq sent the money and quess what after another 6 weeks, the rebate center finally sent an identical refund. Since I didn't get my phone rebate, I didn't feel compelled to return the first rebate.

Alway make a copy of your rebate forms, receipt & upc and make a note of the date you mailed it. There is usually an 800 number printed on the rebate form (in the very small print) to call and check on the status of the rebate. Depends on whether it is a manufacturer's rebate what number you should call, but you really need to find out. I think they just pick people at random to not send the rebates to, hoping you will forget about it. That's why I started keeping a file with copies and expected receive dates (8 weeks from date mailed). If I don't receive the rebate within 8 weeks + 1 day, I call.

Funny.. right when I found this website, I did one of those buy-a-bunch for $150, use a coupon code, and get everything for $15 after rebates. Five months later, NO rebates received. CDRW from OM and manufacturer, mousepad from manuf., etc. I've never had a letter lost in the mail. But all three? Went to B&M OM last week, with my photocopies of everything, even the envelopes. The manager called corporate, and I'm supposed to get a check for all of them. We'll see.

I've had the best luck with Office Max rebates. They do require an extra THIRTY seconds of work, but I have always gotten mine within 2-4 weeks.

Best Buy rebates are the worst for me. I am still waiting on about 6 of them from over a year ago. (Of course, I know they will never show up).
