Kids what should I be paying per foot for cat5, cat5e, cat6 cable???

what is a decent price - can you point me to any websites/stores that sell quality cable for a fair price? and what's the maximum I should pay, when are they gouging me?

thanks for the advice,
kevin

You talking premade cables or are you going to make your own custom lengths?

either/or

either way, depending on the price difference between the two. if it's a lot cheaper, we can crip our own ends, but if the premade are not expensive, we would do that to save time...

thanks,
kevin

CompGeeks usually runs a special on 1000' rools of Cat5e with RJ45 ends, a crip tool, and a cble tester for around $50. That should give you an idea of what not to pay.

thank you - there is a lot of stuff in that kit that I would not need, like the adapters, the switch, etc.

thanks for the info!

Also check Home Depot if you have one in your area. They sell bulk cat5 by the foot plus the connectors and crimping tool. I got some for $0.11 a foot last year but I borrowed the crimper from a friend.

EDIT: they are showing 500' for $39.98 on their website. HERE
