Yup, I hate rebates. That's why I rarely patronize them

I also avoid rebates like the plauge. Seems there are a lot of complaints against rebateshq lately.

Sorry to hear they are jacking ya around. Was the rebate big?

Standing in front of monitors at Best Buy with credit card prominently displayed and being totally ignored by salesmen who were too busy yucking it up in animated groups of 4 or 5.

Crossed the road and bought it at Circuit City very quickly.

so far so good with my rebates, but I'm still very cautious

staples, good, fast only the online version, the mail-in!! forever

radioshack, takes forever

I think they make it hard so that they don't have to pay-up

That's exactly the deal on 'em. They're banking on most people either never sending the stuff in, keeping poor records, or getting tired of the hassle. Far as I'm concerned, the "fulfillment centers" see them as a license to steal. I never use 'em.

Oh, and CrapUSA is the worst.

Re: weigh in on stupid customer service that's happened to you

Something like that happened with one of my $45 rebates.. I called and was told "the vendor extended the promotion".. I finally got the money, but it was over a month late (~12 weeks, I think).

Where to start!

There's the two times I've opened an item purchased at Best Buy to find a completely different item inside, sealed & all. And then when I took them back to Best Buy, both times I was treated like a thief, having to defend myself for a refund, when it was they who needed to be defending their honesty, not I.

And then there was the time CompGeeks accused me of credit card fraud because the refund they kept attempting to issue was not posting on my account...did finally get my money from them, but not without a headache.

In fact, I've ran into so much insanity, I have to deliberately forget much of it in order to preserve my own sanity...
