Need a printer, suggestions please!

I am in the market for a new multi-function printer. I need the fax option. I have been looking at a few HP's that have caught my eye. I don't need it to be photo quality because I have an HP 5550 Photosmart.

Here's what I have been browsing.

HP Officejet 6110

HP Officejet D145

I want the flatbed scanner. The D145 has a legal sized scanner.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I've had 2 Canon multi-function machines and they didn't last.

Just my $0.02. Stick with HP. I've had my HP 990cse for 3 1/2 yrs.
Two trips to the shop for regular maintenance. My 3300c scanner
bought at the same time still hangen' in there. I've managed a
couple faxes through my modem. Let your wallet be your guide.

Stay away from Epson and Lexmark. Cannons are good.

My parents have the D145 and love it. The 6110 is a newer model. Both are very nice machines. I have had a HP OfficeJet T65 for about 5 years now and I have never done anything (including cleanings, maintenence etc...) to it except change Ink Cartridges and it still works perfectly. Only thing I dislike is the sheet feed and drivers for XP.

Please explain.

I will probably be purchasing one of these today.

I am using XP Pro.

Other opinions? I'll be headed out soon.
I am leaning towards the 6110, it takes the same print cart. as my HP 5550

Please explain.

Keep in mind that this is a 5 year old machine, hooking up Parallel.

The drivers for XP: Everytime I start/restart my computer it takes like 1minute to load up the printer after cliking OfficeJet manager or file>print. It has to go through the whole communications testing...it is rather annoying. I have checked HP's website and this is a known issue that will not be addressed for my particular printer.

The sheetfeed: If I had it to do all over again I would choose a flat bed with an automatic document feeder. Nothing wrong with a sheetfeed except I cannot scan the side of a box or a book.

You will not have these issues with either model printer.
::edit::
Both models will do legal size...if I am not mistaken.

only thing that would keep me from getting a hp is the cost of ink . you can't get after market carts

i have an epson cx5200 it won't do stand alone fax but with software you can use it as a fax . it has a flatbed scanner and it prints fast . other than the noisey sheet feed , it is only noisey when it first grabs the paper , it is VERY quiet . after market carts are very cheap .

i have never used a bothers but i hear they are very nice also .

Just an update, I ended up bargaining with the manager at Circuit City and buying the HP Officejet 6110 for $265.xx

I am very pleased with the whole package. Great scanning and faxing. Print quality is the same as my HP Photosmart 5550.
