ahh dit me is on a distinguished road
whats a good p4 motherboard?

friend bought a crappy one and just realized it now. he wants to get a new p4 board... any suggestions? or links ro resellers? thanks.

i have a ASUS p4p800. very good and stable . good overcloking capablities, suppotrs 400/533/800 Mhz p4 and aslo upcomming prescot processors can get it around 140$ shipped at googlegear or newegg.com

my friend has the ecs motherboard and it only supports 333 mhz fsb for ram..... it's a ghey board.

how fast is the cpu he is using in it . if you want a pretty good mobo cheap i got a good one in my forsale thread . it will do 400 and 533 fsb and will take ddr400 ram .

Chipset is one of the most important things to look at when getting a new MOBO.

SiS, VIA = Not good.

Intel is always a safe bet.

Make sure your CPU is compatable and that your FSB speed match. No need having a CPU with a FSB speed your MOBO doesn't support.

You can also go to sites like Tom's Hardware.com and read some reviews he has done on some of these mother boards.

Lastly, look at your needs:

Typing, chatting, browsing.... Get a cheapo.

Performance and using your PC a lot = Pay the extra.
