Anything wrong with refurb speakers??
such as some of these http://store.yahoo.com/justdeals/souncarandmu.html http://store.yahoo.com/justdeals/loz51spandsu.html
they seem to have some sweet prices there...if you order several items to sort of even out the shipping costs etc.
But is it wise to get recerted speakers??
Anybody done it yet?
I guess the rub is they only have 30 day warranty, and even then YOU gotta pay shipping, which on a subwoofer is gonna be ugly.
Whaddya think?

My first set of 'good' speakers were refurbs. That was 2 years ago. They are Altec Lansings ACS 45.1's. They're on my kids machine now. If I could find another set, refurb or not, I'd buy them again. Great sounding 2.1's. I myself upgraded to Klipsch ProMedia 4.1's |

Not all refurbs are bad. I've bought refurbed speakers 5 years ago and still sound great!
Sometimes people don't like what they have, send it back even if there is nothing wrong, and the company cleans them up and resells them as refurbs.

There are some nice deals for some Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 and a decoder at the Klipsch site.

well, i mean, some stuff refurbed is ok, some stuff is a little sketchy.
But my thinking is that speakers dont really have any moving or electronic parts for the most part, lol.
Id be a little nervous with refurb hard drives though, for example..even though the same place with these speakers has 15g refurb for less than $10....refurb monitors I could see as long as I was seeing it first...id be nervous having one shipped to me.

John, might want to check out resellersratings regarding JustDeals. I'd loved to get some refurb speakers at half the price of new, BUT some of the reviews are horrible.

I think I have ordered from them before but cant remember, lol. Mainly I check out their motherboard deals. They had some slot 1 AT board and I was gonna order several mobos and also hit those sweet priced speaker deals...but the mobos are out of stock, lol.

JP | a speaker has about 4 parts, half of which are moving or electronic. the fram and permamagnet fit your theory, but the electromagnetic coil and (attached) cone are powered pretty constantly up and moving at around 100 to 15000 hertz (which from a central rest position to in to out to rest, is i think around 300 to 45000 movements per second.lots of direction changes even at low frequecies.) not bad for a really non moving part. lol.
