Dell servers now have AGP Port!
Quote: |
The PowerEdge 400SC is an Intel i875P chipset based server with an AGP slot! This means you can pretty easily turn it into a gaming, multimedia, or graphics workstation! It is compatible with 533Mhz and 800Mhz processors (hyperthreaded too), there`s built in 2 channel S-ATA, there are 6 USB 2.0 ports, there`s built in 10/100/1000 ethernet, 4 PCI slots (with both 5.0v and 3.3v universal support), ADI 198x audio, and loads of other features. The AGP and audio are not "officially" supported by Dell, but they work. This is an incredible value at just $349 with free shipping, and no rebates to worry about. In fact, after looking at pictures of the motherboards, I`m pretty confident the 400SC motherboard is almost identical to the more expensive Dimension 8300`s motherboard (and the MUCH more expensive Dimension XPS), except the 400SC gives you Gigabit Ethernet instead of merely 10/100, and an extra serial port.
| So if you have the extra cash and want to get some pretty powerful cows, there you go.

Cows? I'm thinking these boxes would make pretty good workstations.

Yes -- they'll be good workstations, too bad Dell doesn't have the Opetrons.
As for Cow's, that's the name for computers for DC projects.

Yeah, I knew that. I just though the addition of the an AGP port made the servers more desktop worthy than before. Seemed weird to me to gain that and yet still consider the boxes for cow usuage only.

Oops, I was on the wrong train of thought too.. I was thinking of it more for gaming, and the price is pretty good with all those coupons for a cow, for around $500 you get a 2.4 GHz P4 on an 800 MHz FSB, fully loaded.
