Processor and heatsink

Ok guys and girls I'm finally going all the way and building from scratch. Just bought the motherboard:HERE
Now I am looking for the processor. I'm looking at the xp 2800 and 3000. Will I notice a considerable difference between the two?
My biggest concern is the heatsink. I want something that is quiet. (my current one sounds like an f-14 takeoff) Just curious what you guys think I should go with and where I should buy from?

thanks
mike

well, if the motherboard you linked to is the Soyo KT333 board, then you're going to run into a problem... It only supports up to a 266mhz FSB, and the 2800 & 3000 processors have a 333mhz FSB.

But anyways, a good heatsink is the Thermaltake TR2-M2. VERY cheap, VERY nice and fairly quiet too.

I like to buy my cooling stuff at www.hardcorecooling.com

Sorry but agathodaimon is right you may want to recheck your choices...

As for the HSF... My personal preference is the SLK line of heatsinks , paired with the largest, speed adjustable fan available.

heh, no problem.

That was the FIRST thing I noticed... I've got a KT333 board myself and would REALLY like to get an Nforce2 or something so I can upgrade my processor.
Just don't have any money though...

Update.

returned the old board.
now looking at GA_7N400-L or A7N8X which do you think?

only concern now is in the tech specs I see it only supports a AGP card of 1.5v. I have a geforce 4 ti 4200. I can't seem to find the stats on what that card pulls.

thanks
mike.

ASUS ASUS (rah rah rah!). I have owned asus products before and have had nearly no problems, it even saved my system a few times. Make sure you get the most updated Nforce drivers tho, i heard that when they first came out they were rather buggy.

The Asus board is an excellent choice. Supports the newer 400 mhz bus so you will have a little headroom in the upgrade department.
I agree with JPMiller on HSF, the Thermalright line is all I use anymore (AMD cooling).
The SK-7 is a good unit the compares to much higher priced HSFs. Pair that with a 70MM TMD fan and you have a nice setup, good cooling with with mid level noise.

A couple of links on the SK-7;
