Outdoors These guys are thieves and scam artist pure and simple

I have been having problems out of this company for about a year. I keep getting turned down for my rebates about 90% of the time even though everything is correctly filled out and mailed in time. In order to get my rebates I have to threaten and call the Vendor that I originally made my purchase at and complain. The last email from them I got today and was pertaining to a Logitech Speaker Rebate and I was amazed at the brazen attempt to defraud me. The last day to have the submission postmarked by was 07/25/03. This was last Monday and would have to be submitted less than a week ago. They turned me down because they said it was not sent in before the deadline. By their own admission a rebate submission takes 4 -6 weeks. Now I am asked to believe this one was done in a little less than a week. 2-3 days if you count the time the submission was in the mail and I live in Alaska so it takes about 4 days to get a letter to the lower 48 states. I have had to fight them for every rebate I submit and I do keep photocopies of my submission completed and dated. I am still owed 3 rebates and have not gotten them and this is why. I bought the Cendyne DVD recorder with a $50.00 rebate and sent in everything promptly. I received an email turning me down because I did not include the UPC code which I did and appears on a sticker off the box in my photo copy. When I mailed, faxed and emailed them copies and a photocopy of the whole box, my info mysteriously disappeared from the site. This to me represents a clear pattern of fraud. I am still trying to get $180.00 worth of Cendyne and Verbatim rebates and had to call CompUSA Headquarters and file a complaint. Because they turned me down for my Maxtor rebate. They said it was not purchased on the correct day but I had a copy of the receipt and submission I even got a case number and everything from CompUSA and within an hour the rebateshq peeps emailed me back saying it was approved and then the very next day I get turned down again for this Logitech Speaker Rebate. What a load, these guys are thieves and that is what I called them in my letter. I found this site while trying to see if there is a class action lawsuit I could sign up for and have sent a complaint to the FTC. I hope I really have them by the balls this time because there is no way in hell they processed my rebate in 2 to 3 days. I just pray that a lawsuit is implemented soon. Does anyone know how to go about starting one up?
RANT ends here.

If you have problems with them, don't use their services.

Over in England, we dont have rebates, and to be honest, I don't fully understand how they work, that said...

Well the way I see it is that you are buying the goods with an advertised rebate. When you buy the goods, you are entering into a legal contract with said supplier to aquire the said goods at the said advertised price including any rebates etc.

If you have completeted the necessery paperwork and provided it to them within the times they have specified at the time of sale, then they are legally obliged to fulfull thier end of the deal and supply you with the advertised rebate.

The only problem you are going to have is proving that they received the paperwork within time.

I really wish you the best of luck, and in future, I suggest purchasing your stuff from somewhere else.

Most will give rebates, it just takes them several (4+) months to do so.

I just thought it very brazen the fact they denied me less than a week after the Postmark date seeing as how it takes at least three days to get a letter to the lower 48 states and the deadline was last Monday. They should have waited a little longer. I guess seeing that I make copies of everything they thought this was a sure fire way to get me. I called CompUSA again this morning and the person I talked to was very nice and agreed that no way was my rebate processed that fast and something was definitely up with this and asked me to Fax all the copies of my submission for this incident to her so she could show this to upper level management..
I hope CompUSA pulls their account with them because I plan to call on everyone and think I have a fool proof way to catch them cheating me in the future. I am not going to tell the details here because I want it to work. I see that they have a Cendyne drive at OfficeMax free after rebates. We shall see. I will keep all interested folks up to date if we decide to do this. And also thanks for the replies folks

Who is it or are you not revealing the name for a reason. A lot of times companies just delay long enough in the hopes that the comsumer will give up in frustration. Keep at it and you should prevail.
