"New" Dell Inspiron 1100's on Ebay

My son's grandmother gave him $1000 to spend on a laptop for college. Ebay has several 1100's listed as "new" and "in original box", and some are "not refurbished". Where do you think these laptops are coming from?

some wait for deals to come up @ dell and buy them at a lower cost send in the rebate and then put them up on ebay and get more then they paid for them

No doubt. i do not trust ebay. Just an opinion.

i have paid for items on ebay and not received them at least 3 times. if you plan to spend that amount of money be careful and at least use the escrow service.
