So long Newegg! U STINK.
Well, that's it. I'm done with them. They've become a sham with my dealings with them. I have spent over 8 grand on parts from them, more than any other single vendor/reseller. They have lied to me, run me around in circles, and just plain aggravated me.
My last ordeal was a case that arrived damaged beyond reasonable repair (unless you are Red Green, or so I hear). I called NewEgg up, and they told me to return the item to them. Though I asked twice, they insisted I not file a claim with FedEx, but that they would handle the refund for me. I was sure to get a positive answer on the fact that shipping both ways would be refunded with the product price as the item arrived damaged, as if I were to file a claim with FedEx I could (theoretically) get my money back for shipping & product cost without worrying about the return shipping cost as they would take the item if so needed after filing a claim. NewEgg's cust. service rep assured me that was the case, and all would be well (complete refund of costs incurred).
So, I ship it back, at a rather expensive rate as the nearest shipper by many miles is the USPS, and I had only local jobs for a couple weeks there. It was $29.20 (OUCH) to return via USPS, it was $15 for shipping from NewEgg, and the case was $37. Total cost incurred: $81.20. Initial refund from NewEgg: $37. So I simply emailed them asking to correct and reminded them of their words in which they assured me of what would be refunded. I then faxed them the receipt for return shipping, as i had not yet done so and they requested it so they could make the refund one for the remaining due. $15 refund was issued that evening. I email again two days later, as they said it would take a day or two (though I knew no other refund would come without communication). They reply they had not received the fax, but to just tell them the return cost. Somehow my previous communications are either lost or being ignored, as information in them seems to be unknown to NewEgg. I reply with the $29.20 total. That evening $14 is posted on my refund. I then reply saying that it appears they thought the $15 was a part of my return shipping costs? But I was assured shipping would be reimbursed for both directions as the item arrived Damaged by handling prior to my possesion. This is the reply I received: Quote:
Dear Customer,
The initial refund of $15 was for the original shipping. The representative
whom issued the RMA did fulfill this request. Please note that this refund was
made as an exception. Newegg normally does not pay for any return shipping yet
we have not only agreed to pay for the shipping back to us but an additional
refund of the original shipping. This is not part of Newegg's policy to do this.
Another representative who was assisting you, Paul, requested the additional $14
which he was under the impression that the original refund was for only the
shipping back to us. Was he aware that you were to get the original shipping
back as well? He saw the $15 refund and added an additional $14. If he was not
notified of a prior agreement between you and the person who issued the RMA[*],
then how are we the ones to blame? We do apologize if there has been any
confusion, however, we are here trying to help you.
Yesterday when I stated that I had requested a refund on your behalf it was for
the amount of $20. It has yet to be approved. Once that refund is approved a
confirmation email will be sent to you.
| *I have been very clear, consise, and professional with all my communications (there were a couple phone calls in there as well), though my last email did ask that they please correct the problem as I am done doing business with them. And only $15(.20) is the remainder of the shipping costs. Every rep I have communicated with has had a clear explaination of the situation, as I did not want anything missed.
Their performance of lately has been less than reliable. This has been a two week project just trying to get my money back. Okay, so this isn't their policy to refund shipping under any circumstance. That's not ethical IMO, but legal and stated clearly on their site. But they assured me with their word that it would be handled otherwise. I have reminded them, but still they claim this information to have been unknown. There is no $15(.20, but I'm not that anal) refund on my account. The above email was sent early afternoon Teusday, it is now early Friday morning.
Goodbye NewEgg. Thankfully I did not rely on you soley for my parts, as it will not be difficult in getting my parts elsewhere (you gotta hate looking for suppliers). |

Yeah, good luck with that. I've had employees (not NewEgg) promise me things only to hear later, "I'm sorry, sir. I don't see any notations in your account about that." After I made it obvious I wanted what was promised, one guy even said.. and get this: "We know where you live!!" Of course you do. So do a few magazines, banks, Netflix, and other companies I do business with. I told him if that was a threat to come on over. He shut up. |

So, basically, your wanting newegg to pay for shipping charges, when in fact you should be dealing with UPS or FEDEX, because NEWEGG DOES NOT SHIP THINGS, UPS AND FEDEX DO.

Too bad I can't see it. I've changed my options many times but it doesn't take. Even a mod looked at it and couldn't fix it. At least somebody sees it. |

LOL consumertalks. I see it.
Yes Billy, VHockey86 understands my gripe. And NewEgg only ships FedEx to my knowledge. And when dealing with shipping charges, FedEx will refund the charges, say if an overnight arrives 3-days later for example, but you'll still have to ask NewEgg for the refund because FedEx will only refund to the account to which it was billed, that being NewEgg.

NewEgg is good, but ONLY for parts that have freeshipping.
I believe that their parts which have shipping charges are too pricy after all is calculated. I usualy tend to shop around and see where I can find the best deal after shipping, and then I take a look at the supplyer and if anything looks shady.
But I must say that some things can only be bought from NewEgg.
Forexample, looking for some Enermax Speed Control fans is a pain. I found 80mm in some places, but I needed 92 and 120 mm ones and they were no where to be found, but NewEgg.
But I understand your gripe, and I have suffered as you have and as others have. Hang in there, and always tell them you want to speak to their manager. The higher you go the more you get done.
