Here's the deal....
I sold a dude a Dell Dimension and with it a new Epson C40 printer.
I bought the printer from
www.winbook.com on a special they had in Nov 2002.
Dude took the printer home, called a couple days later and says it making a funny noise which he thinks it shouldnt be making etc.
Anyway, I have a c42 which I paid more for....so I told him Id ride out and listen to it myself.
I have my receipt from Winbook but it doesnt state any particular warranty.
When I go to epsons website they show the C42 as having a year warranty so I am sure the c40 would have come with the same warranty.
Am I gonna have any problem getting a refund for this thing? Isnt a one year warranty pretty standard on a new printer?
What if the dude has thrown away the box??
How would you handle this situation??
If I take the c40 back and hand him a c42 I am basically going backwards....the c42 is like 4 pages per minute faster on black so its really a better, newer printer. Plus Im out gas money. (yes, next time I sell I will be super straight forward that any warranty means they bring it back to me and if there is any shipping involved the pay it).
Basically the printer cost me exactly $25. I am thinking my best bet might be to just give him a refund for the $50 he paid me. Then tell him the c42 is a $60 printer etc.
If I hand him the c42 then I am out the warranty shipping on the c40 and I am pretty sure I paid a little more than $25 for the c42.
Seems my best bet may be to just give him a refund and the option to buy the c42.
Any opinions or ideas?
Thanks, JP
