I've look4ed into them before, and I think I might again. My friend said that Monarch was better.

if your going into computer science, why not just build it yourself?
I built my first computer at the age of 13, I'm sure a college kid can figure it out
Just post a new thread asking us how to build a system. We'll suggest prices, components, tutorials, and we'll even help you. Its really not that hard, believe me.

yup yup gotta agree with everybody here . and i bet you can get it for more than a 111$ savings . go check out this thread http://www.techimo.com/forum/t69778.html this pc is being built for under 800$ now if you 600$ more to the budget you could have a killer rig . i think people like me and others here could build a screaming pc for 1300$ .... and building a pc is not that hard IF you can follow directions ..

Is Knowledge Micro really as bad as this site claims it to be? The reviews by other people seem to be really good, but the individuals stats make it out to be crappy. Can anyone verify this, because if they're reliable then I'll go with them, what with them being about $150 cheaper than Monarch and all, plus free assembly.

I don't know to be honest, I've never purchased from either.

I would derive great pleasure from making it myself, but what with being on the parent's tab and all, they'd want to know that I had a good warranty should I blow anything up. Also, KnowldgeMicro is just that much cheaper and the same price as the $1450 computer at Monarch which I'd have to assemble myself. I want to transfer my HD over anyways to copy the stuff, so I'd have to do some inside work anyways. Once again though, if KnowledgeMicro isn't good, as the reviews suggest, then I won't go with it.

Hi Sonic Flash,
Welcome To TIMO! (SORRY I didnt say that in my first post)
I want to say that if a lot of people have had problems with a company that you should stay away until some others have posted good feedback. You can bet if the company wants to stay in business they will take care of their customers first. If they are a fly by night, All they will want is your money. Every company can/will have problems - that is a given. The good companies will work with you to make it right if at all possible for you and themselves.

Part of the reason I'm not being allowed to make it myself is because it's too much money to gamble with in case something goes wrong though. The specific review for that site by this one said that they had low customer service as far as returns. The problems I've read of seem to be with credit cards and messing up stupidly. And I doubt if something was wrong that they wouldn't take it back. I believe I shall go with KnowledgeMicro, a good price, a custom job with good parts, and a history I fairly trust... I hope...
Uh, upon looking at their policies on ordering and warranaties, maybe not... This leads me back to a more expensive computer, perhaps from Monarch. In any case, it'd have to be assembled there with a sort of warranty.
