New computer - good deal?

Yeah, just looking to sget advice on the following computer which I will get (perhaps, depending on what it said here ).

AMD Athlon XP 2700+ FSB 333
1024 MB DDR 333 (2700) Memory
122 GB 7200 ATA133 Hard Disk
AOpen AK77-8X Motherboard
NVIDIA GeForce 4 128MB Ti 4200 DDR Graphics with TV-OUT
Sony Floppy Disk Drive
AC97 3D Sound
USB2
Midi Style Case

That comes to about £640 (US$1070)

I'll probably get WinXP Pro (£75) and a new monitor too if possible. Anyway is the base good? By the way, there isn't a CD or DVD drive because I'm using the ones I have on my current computer.

Thanks in advance .

EDIT: Oh, and I am buying from ComputerElectronics.co.uk - anyone know how realiable they are?

I can't give a technical judgement on your system, but I checked out their site and IMO, their pricing is a bit over the top..

for example : athlon xp2600 for £198 !!
pentium IV 2.8ghz for £322 !!

compairison :

www.komplett.co.uk

athlon xp2600 : £81
pentium IV 2.8g : £223

pricewise you're not doing a good deal there IMO

The only problem is that I can't and won't build a PC myself because I know I'll mess it up (being a clumsy person is such a curse ). I also don't know of anyone who could build it for me. Thus, I have to resort to buying complete systems .

But thanks muchly for what has been said so far. At least i know it isn't as great a deal as I thought... :lol

If I were you I would build it myself. I have recently been suffering because I bought a premade machine. If your not quite sure what to do I positive the guys on these forums can talk you through it step by step. You'd save a lot of money that way, and learn a lot too.

another option is going to one of those computer fairs. if you're not comfortbale with assembling from scratch yourself, they can always install cpu and cooler on the mb and mount it in a case with psu for a little extra.
you can always add your video and sound card, ram, hd's, cd drives and other stuff afterwards yourself

I'm not sure of prices BUT I don't care for the motherboard in your selection . I would try for Abit , asus , msi or epox , in that order . They may be a bit higher but worth the money in reliability .

i've used a PIII AOpen mobo for 3 yrs on my main system (just retired it) and its been VERY reliable. I definately wouldn't put it in a server, but its purty stable.

IMO, that price quoted $1070 is a little high. Now if it included XP Pro and a nice 17" CRT .25mm monitor, that might be another story. I think that you should be able to get the same thing for around $750-800 at other places.

Just my $0.02.

Having had a look around Kompett (which should get more recognition, sicne it is much better than Dabs!) and comparing prices, I see that I could get the exact same set up for £100 less, so I thank everyone for their help, and especially to BettaBuy for linking me to Komplett!

Now I have another question: what is the best make of GF4 Ti4800? I'm certainly not going with Gainward since I've been burnt by them in the past :\. Or is Ti4200 more worth the money? Or should this be a question for the graphics card forum?
