New ebay user

I am a new ebay user, i have never used ebay in my life, the reason i am using ebay is to sell products from the company i work for, now my boss has set up an account and has assigned me to sell products for him.

What are some good basics on how to use ebay? I have read their help pages and will keep reading them, but what are some good basics not listed on the ebay page?

Thanks,

It really is not that difficult to use ebay, depending on what your selling you might want to try some of their tools like turbo lister (its free so try it), most important is accurate descriptions and nice pictures. You need to decide if you are going to have reserves or not or just sell stuff for a flat price. If you have reserves it is harder to sell stuff but you can be sure you are not giving it away.

if you look at my auctions at econopcs maybe you will get some ideas.

It is always good to make urself a template to use so that you don't have to type shipping and payment info all the time. Also, pictures are key. The better looking an auction is the more bids you will get.

Being a frequent user of eBay, I must say the picture are very important indeed. I would never buy items like computers that didn't have an accurate picture of the item itself (rather than a generic photo). Description is also important, and also be sure to make ALL your payment details and options clear, since I have been caught out a couple of times with that. Try also not to overload the description section with unneeded graphics, since that always annoys me when I am reading through things.

I agree. Having good pictures is important. And description too.
Also if unsure on how much to sell certain items do a Ebay search for similar items to kinda get an idea of what others are priced. Or list them for the least amount you will need to recieve for them.
Or do as I do sometimes in start high then if nobody bids lower the price a little bit. That can be done if no one has bid yet and auction has at least 12 hours left or more. Just remember it cost to list items and Ebay charges a final value fee as well. Keep that in mind when listing your stuff. Shipping is very important. Make sure you charge enough for the shipping. Depending on who you use to ship USPS,FedEx,UPS prices vary. And get a scale so you can weigh the packages. Sometime add a little $ to cover materials used in the packing process. And pack items good so they don't shift around and break during shipping. Its also a good idea to offer insurance on breakable stuff.
By the way what do you plan to sell?

Take full advantage of the HTML tags that are available. E-bay can be great fun and you will have no problems selling there you have access to the biggest Mall in the universe and the entire world is invited. Be careful however and read up on the listing fees etc and be sure and cover yourself warn people not to mess you about as you will leave negative feedback if necessary.

Enjoy yourself there is no other online auction site like it.

It's usually a little bit less than this, but I plan on eBay and PayPal fees taking 6% of the final total with shipping. eBay takes your fees about month later, so don't forget about them.
