RebatesHQ is trying to screw me out of my rebates
I have two rebates I'm waiting on, a $30 on a Verbatim DVD burner from last fall, and a $40 on a Cendyne CD-RW I got just recently. Both were purchased at Staples. Well, I filled out the rebate forms and sent in everything the forms asked for. However, with both of them I get a stupid postcard saying I need to send in the original serial # too. (It wasn't listed as a requirement on the rebate form.) So I did that, and still nothing. I sent in a complaint email about the Verbatim earlier today, and this evening I get a reply saying they can't help me because that promotion is closed. WTF??! I sent in my stuff LONG before it was closed!!

BEING SCREWED OUT OF YOUR REBATE
Hi;
I know the feeling about a lot of rebates as its happen to me. What I now do is makes complete copies of all paperwork I submit as you notice on the application form "we are not responsible for un-received mail". Well to me that just might mean OPPS we never received your application for that $100 rebate. This can happen I know . So I started sending my apts registered return receipt requested but heck the cost factor for $4.95 for a $15 rebate wasn't worth it. WELL what I started doing is after I don't receive a rebate I write the Attorney Generals Office in the state that I mailed the rebate application to and explain my plight! Man do I get responce! In fact sometimes within two weeks I am in receipt of my rebate check. You might want to try this method as you submitted your rebate application as they responded to you telling you you failed to submit a number which wasn't even asked for so that proves they got your app! So nothing ventured nothing gained and the amount of the lost rebate makes it well worth while.
Good Luck

They tried recently to pull the same BS on me.
I called rebatescammers up on 3 pending rebates and by the end of the conversation they were all approved.
One was a postmark issue to which I responded that I would be happy to send a copy of the 'Certificate of Mailing' that I always use ( 90 cents).
Another was the famous no UPC code ( UPC was taped to the rebate form) which, again, I told them I had a copy of and would send it to them.
They gal I spoke with said that would not be nessasary and I received the 'courtesy' approved crap.
Oh, and they said that they finally have approved the $50 rebate from the black friday deal last year, still listed as approved and pending (7 months now).
Call them up and ask them where my (your) money is. This is after all your money.
I'm not going out on a limb here by saying these people are thieves. Letting them screw yet another person that followed there 'rules' is not right.

This rotten rebate place screwed my mother out of a black friday $50 cendyne rebate. (This was after 'not receiving' it three times via mail and then being told that they never got the fax re-submission. After I told them that I could send over the 'fax transmission completed' sheet, they changed their tune and said they couldn't honor it because the rebate period had passed.)
I took everything into the staples where she got it and they paid it out of the till with an apology for the hassle. Happy with Staples, POed as can be at the rebate house.

How do you reach a "real" person not a pc? I have three rebates pending but haven't received any verification that they received them and the names of the mfg. aren't on their web list.

I have the perfect solution to your issues. #1 mail it with a USPS tracking number. Costs 55 cents and well worth it. This way they can't say they never got it
2nd and most important. Make a photocopy of all the info you have UPC, store receipt and stuff onto one page and mail it with your originals and the like. This tells them that you are the meticulous rebater and you aren't likely to not to follow up on it.
To date I have not failed to get a rebate that was owed.

I also make copies of the filled out rebate form with date noted. However our USPS office refuses to send anything with delivery confirmation unless it is a package! On very expensive rebates, I have used signature confirmation but that adds to the cost.

Even better since you can say exactly who signed for it.

Somehow I'd always thought that at least some rebate places wouldn't accept submissions that required signature confirmation - but if I did see it, it was a while ago and perhaps I'm mistaken. It's good to know most places will accept such a mailing. And for the places that say they won't, perhaps they're better avoided to begin with.

rebateshq are theives.
I have my kingston $20 rebate turned down saying it wasn't purchased within the dates specified by this promotion. I purchased it on 7/18/03 an promotion period was 7/3/03 to 7/19/03.
I have my Cendyne rebate request turned down because they din't get my serial no. They never mention anything about UPC. When I mailed them that UPC and serial no are in a single cutout, they then reply they haven't received my UPC and serial no.
The biggest problem of all, one can't reach any human on their toll free number. The system always says, all representatives are busy, please wait till one becomes avaiable and the phone gets starts singing 8-8-8-8, then starts screaming some junk sound, like one made by modem while conecting to internet, and then disconnects. There is no problem with my phone. I and my friends have called from many different places with same results all the times.
I am done with the rebateshq thing now. I am not going to buy any item under rebate which is handled by rebateshq.
REBATESHQ SUCKS,
